The Subject Association, Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi is organizing its Annual fest (Karvan-e-Fikr, 2024) on the theme 'Tags, trends and trolls: locating the "social" on social media' on 14th & 15th February 2024 from 9 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.

The Student Seminar will be held on 14th February at Lecture Hall, University Polytechnic, Gate no 7, JMI. The second day of the festival, i.e. 15th February 2024, comprises cultural activities and competitions like Debate, Photography walk, JAM session, Stage play, Fashion walk, and Open mic.

Mr. Nitish Beniwal, student of M.A. (Semester-III) in the Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) was a member of Delhi State Men's Basketball Team that won Bronze Medal in Basketball match in National Games held in October 2023 at Goa.

The Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia is organising its Departmental Alumni Meet on 08.12.2023 at 04 to 06 P.M.

It will be held in hybrid mode. The venue for the Meet is Nehru Guest House (Adjacent to Ansari Auditorium), JMI.

In order to attend the Alumni Meet, it is mandatory to register on the portal (https://shorturl.at/dELW3), if not already registered. After registration, registration fee of Rs. 500/- (non refundable) has to be made.

The Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia is organizing a Two-day Research Methodology Workshop titled `Qualitative, Quantitative And SPSS Analysis Of Data In Social Science Research’ on 23rd and 24th November, 2023. The workshop aims to introduce the research scholars to the key texts in the area of thematic focus and introduce them to the approaches of qualitative as well as quantitative research methods, specific tools, and techniques of data collection, tabulation, interpretation and analysis. It will also familiarise participants with different software used for statistical and qualitative analysis such as SPSS, R, etc.

A movie screening followed by an intense and interactive discussion about the same was conducted in the Seminar Room. It was attended by the faculty members, scholars and students.
