A very warm welcome to all the IIT'ians (cum- ISM'ites), after a week long vacations. We, the members of SCG, are here, to let you go through an advisory, which if followed, will definitely be in favor of the college as well as the the students.
As you all know, a lot of new facilities have been and, will be introduced in the college so there is a strict need to maintain all those facilities. Being one of the finest governmental institutions in the country, there is a need that the college must have some special characteristics, which the whole country needs to achieve in the future. One and the most important of it is the cleanliness drive which has been initiated by our respected PM. So, we all, as responsible students of the college, must follow some guidelines, in order to let the college free from any chaos in near future-
1- As the college is no more stranger to you, so from the day 1, you might have noticed the dustbins standing alongside roads, near the cafeteria, in your hostels, lecture halls etc. So they have been setup on purpose which is clearly demonstrated on it by the phrase 'USE ME'. Guys, you seriously need to understand that you must not throw your litters in open as it will definitely harm the college environment. So it's a humble request that please do use those dustbins.
2- Now coming on another point, it has been noticed that the hostelites try to take away the mess belongings with them, and obviously not returning them. So please don't act like this as those are governmental property and will definitely harm the smooth working of messes. Also these acts represent a negativity in your behaviour and are not favoured, morally.
So if you take any belongings from the mess then try to return it, responsibly.
3- Talking about the most toughest of all points to follow, dusting of your living space. Frankly speaking, we request you all to clean your rooms on a regular basis. It seems tough to follow, but believe us, it has much more benefits regarding your health and mental well-being.
4- Talking about one of the most important points, active participation is required from the side of college administration too. There will not be any major improvement until the Admin itself steps in and works in coordination with the students.
Also students are required to follow the rules which will be/ have been framed by the administration.
5- Also, all the clubs working in college are advised to organise events, like campaigns and competitions (both cultural and literary), regarding cleanliness.
We have been informed from the side of administration that proper funds, required for these activities, will be provided.
It can be thought of as working on the lines of 'SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN' , converting it, on the college level as 'SWACHH ISM ABHIYAAN'.
6- So finally, only a collective participation and responsive behaviour from every student, faculty, staff members etc., can help in achieving this 'SWACHHA ISM ABHIYAAN'.

So, this was all for now. Well, for the students, keep enjoying the college life and follow all the aforementioned points for your own well-being.

Regarding convocation-

All those who are unsure that whether they will be collecting their degree in person or in absentia can fill the application form now. There will be a provision to retract the form later on. Since the dates are not decided yet, another notice will be published with some other deadline.

Those who couldn't fill the semester feedback due to the technical defects on MIS can fill the feedback now. SCG team talked to the Dean Academics and the date will be extended to 15th April.

Respected sir,

We, the members of Students’ Coordination Group, are writing this letter to you in order to bring to your attention the issues that demand your immediate attention:

· Firstly, we want to end the chaos caused due to the non-existence of a constitution and the non-elective procedures taking place in the college right now by channelizing the efforts through us.
Thus, we make a humble and urgent request to conduct the elections as quickly as possible and to put the constitution in act.
The delay is hampering the growth of sports and cultural culture of the college, giving rise to problems including, but not limited to, the non-availability of funds to clubs, non-availability of a stable committee for inter IIT competitions as seen for the last 2 years, non-availability of resources for various sports and cultural club activities.

· We would like to bring forth the issues faced by the Health Centre. The issues include the unavailability of good quality medicines, the emergency room not being available and not being stocked adequately, the absence of certified counselors for psychological issues of the students, the non-uniform schedule followed by the doctors and also the non-availability of cashless card for major surgical and medical procedures.

· The local area network connection throughout the campus should be made more efficient. It should be available 24x7 and in a more stable and fast form. Students face a lot of difficulties while studying - online courses and online competitions are not accessible in the morning.

· One of the most important issues we want to bring to your attention is the closed campus issue. This affects the library and the computer center, which are not open 24x7. As a result, students are not able to study and do research easily and they are unable to submit projects and/or papers within deadlines.

The in-time of girls and boys hostels in the college should be same i.e. 2300hrs.

· Canteens and the absence of any branded and desirable food companies is another issue we would like to bring to your attention. The canteens have a complete lack of fast food or even simple food chains which the students desire to eat. Another problem is the complete lack of a canteen and a stationary outlet in the Rosaline hostel and the shutting down of the biggest cafeteria on campus, the Student Activity Centre cafeteria.

· The issue of stray dogs and other animals such as snakes due to heavy rains in hostels, especially in Topaz and Opal, and the Teacher’s colony is a very grave issue. The unhygienic state of the campus is only added to by these animals. Also, the existing waste disposal method applied in the hostels i.e, burning the leaves and other products is another issue where your immediate attention is required. A Biogas treatment plant should be introduced.

· Poor quality, taste and monotony of food for all the students, especially the first year students. More competitiveness should be introduced by tendering to new companies.

· Non-uniform fines levied on the students is another issue where your attention is required. A uniform structure with the involvement of a student body representative in the proceedings of such fines and a consequent procedure of a more public nature should be put into effect.

· The coexistence of the Management Information System in the college and the cumbersome paperwork submission system in the departments and all the administrative proceedings is an issue of great distress. Thus, the eradication of the paperwork submission should be put into effect and the complete shift to the online submissions should be done simultaneously.

The issues stated above are of great importance and carry a significant value to the students, and therefore have a substantial influence on their lives in the college. We request an appointment to discuss these issues and the constitution in detail with you as soon as possible. Also, on behalf of all the students of IIT(ISM) DHANBAD we would be highly obliged if we can have a General Body Meeting (GBM) with you.
