Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University successfully conducted its 4th Convocation Ceremony on 6 June 2026 at D. Veerendra Heggade Kalakshethra.

👨‍⚕️ Chief Guest: Dr. Arun C. Inamadar, Vice Chancellor, BLDE Deemed University, Vijayapur.

🎓 A total of:
🔹 397 Undergraduate Graduates
🔹 180 Postgraduate Graduates
🔹 7 Ph.D. Scholars

received their degrees, while 🏅 10 meritorious students were awarded University Gold Medals.

In his convocation address, Dr. Arun C. Inamadar encouraged graduates to embrace AI and Machine Learning in healthcare, learn continuously from their teachers, work sincerely, and pursue their goals with purpose and dedication.

Shri D. Surendra Kumar congratulated the graduates and faculty, highlighting the remarkable progress of SDM University and emphasizing the importance of serving society with commitment and compassion.

🩺 Workshop on Advanced Hands-on Suturing

The Dept. of General Surgery, SDM Medical College, in association with the Hubballi–Dharwad City Branch of KSCASI and Johnson & Johnson Institute on Wheels, successfully conducted a 2-day Advanced Suturing Workshop on 22–23 May 2026.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ A total of 86 Postgraduate Residents from General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics & OBG participated.

✨ Under the leadership of Dr. Niranjan Kumar, the workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest & Deputy Medical Director Shri Saketh Shetty, in the presence of senior administrators and faculty.

💬 Key Message:
Surgical workshops bridge the gap between theory and real-time operative skills, helping residents refine dexterity through simulation models and cadaveric tissue.

🔧 Sessions included:
• Basic knotting & suturing
• Laparoscopic suturing on endo-trainers
• Bowel anastomosis

👨‍🏫 Faculty & Departmental Presence:
• Dr. Sunil Kumar KS (Prof. & Head, OBG)
• Dr. Avinash Prabhu (Prof. & Head, Plastic Surgery)
• Dr. Santosh Jeevannavar (Prof. & Head, Orthopaedics)
along with their departmental staff were present during the workshop.

🙏 Led by Organizing Chairman Dr. Suresh Badiger, with Dr. Prashant Tubachi and Dr. Harsha Kodliwadmath, and the entire Surgery Department team, the workshop was highly interactive and well-received.
