Mr. Mondeep Chetia, a Ph.D. Scholar of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, secured the Gold Medal in the Hammer Throw event (Senior Category) at the 47th State Level Junior and Senior Athletics Championship, held from 24th to 26th July 2026 in Nalbari district.

On 15th July 2026, the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, in his capacity as the Chancellor of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, visited the University at Dibrugarh to review its overall progress in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and University officials. During the visit, the Hon’ble Governor also inspected the ongoing construction work at the permanent campus site and issued necessary directions to ensure the timely and effective ex*****on of the project.
The Hon’ble Governor first arrived at the Office of the Vice Chancellor, currently functioning from the 2nd Floor of the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC) Building, Dibrugarh, near the District Library. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor made a detailed presentation outlining the current status and developments of the University.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor informed that the University has proactively initiated several new academic programmes, including Five-Year Integrated Master’s Programmes, a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Coaching, and various Vocational Diploma programmes. He further stated that the admission process for the academic session 2026–27 is currently underway.
The Hon’ble Governor appreciated the efforts of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and the University administration for their commitment towards expanding academic programmes and strengthening the institution. He expressed confidence that the University will play a pivotal role in nurturing the aspirations of young athletes from Assam and the North-East, enabling them to excel at both national and international levels.
Subsequently, the Hon’ble Governor visited the permanent campus site of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University at Paniera Gaon, Chabua, Dibrugarh, where he reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction work.

The new academic session for 2026–27 is scheduled to commence on 1st August 2026. The Entrance Examination and the admission process for the upcoming session are presently underway.

In addition to our flagship programme in Physical Education, the University has introduced several new academic offerings this year, including 5-Year Integrated Master’s Programmes in Sports Management, Sports Journalism, and Sports Psychology. Furthermore, a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Coaching has been launched, along with a range of vocational programmes in various domains of sports.

The University is encouraged by the enthusiastic response from aspiring students, with applicants not only from different districts of Assam but also from various states across the country expressing keen interest in seeking admission to these programmes.

On 26th June 2026, a sacred ceremony of Bhumi Puja was solemnly conducted at the designated site of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, located at Paniera Gaon, Chabua. The auspicious programme was jointly organized by the construction agency, M/s M. P. Khaitan, and the PWD (Building) Division, Dibrugarh.
The Bhumi Puja was performed by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University in accordance with traditional Vedic rituals. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Binod Hazarika, Hon’ble MLA of Chabua Constituency, along with the Satradhikar and devotees of Dinjoy Satra, Officials from PWD (Building) Division, local residents, and people from neighbouring areas.
The Registrar, faculty members, officers, and employees of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University were also present on the occasion, contributing to the solemnity and significance of the auspicious programme.

In line with the nationwide observance, the 12th International Day of Yoga was observed at the University on 21st June 2026 in a befitting manner. The programme was jointly organized by the University and the CRPF Dibrugarh Unit on the premises of the Administrative Building.
Teachers, officers, staff members, and students of the University, along with members of the Dibrugarh Kho-Kho Club, participated in the programme. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting health, well-being, and a stronger, developed India through yoga.

Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Deka, a distinguished educationist who has previously served as Academic Registrar, Registrar, and Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, and also as the Vice-Chancellor of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, has been appointed as the Ombudsperson of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India, honoured Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University with a Gold Award at a special ceremony held on 7 June 2026 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
This award was conferred by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, in recognition of our university’s effective implementation of all the principles and guidelines of the FIT India Movement, as well as our efforts to develop the university’s new campus at Paniera village, Chabua, as a Vehicle-Free campus.
The honour was received on behalf of the university by the Registrar, Pankaj Borthakur.
Alongside Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, and KIIT University, Odisha, Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University became the first institution from the North-East region of India to be selected for this prestigious honour.
Without any special facilities or significant financial expenditure, the University made sincere efforts to take the message of FIT India to villages and communities, while also envisioning and working towards a university built on a new and progressive outlook.
The flagship event in New Delhi saw the participation of popular actor Vikrant Massey, World Championship silver medalist boxer Nupur Sheoran, and over 15,000 fitness enthusiasts and sports lovers, all advocating for healthier and more sustainable lifestyles through cycling.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon'ble Minister Mandaviya encouraged citizens to dedicate at least 30 minutes each day to physical activity or cycling, highlighting its benefits in conserving fuel, reducing pollution, easing traffic congestion, and promoting overall well-being.
