Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University Celebrates 8th Foundation Day.

Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University observed its 8th Foundation Day on 10 December 2025 with great enthusiasm and solemnity.

The day commenced with the hoisting of the University Flag by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hirendra Nath Sharma in the presence of the Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Dean, Faculty Members, Students, Officers, and Staff of the University.

As 10 December is also observed as Swahid Divas, all members of the University lit ceremonial lamps and offered floral tributes to honour those who sacrificed their lives during the Assam Movement.

In the evening, a special lecture programme was organised at the District Library auditorium. The University had the privilege of welcoming the Chief Guest, eminent educationist, noted writer, and former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Kulendu Pathak. The event was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Deka, former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, as the Guest of Honour.

Following the day-long series of programmes, the University organised a special lecture session in the evening at the District Library auditorium. The central highlight of this event was the presence of the Chief Guest, eminent educationist, noted writer, and former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Kulendu Pathak. The programme was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Deka, former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, Nagaon, as the Guest of Honour.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the introductory remarks by the Registrar and outlined the purpose of the gathering and warmly welcomed all attendees. This was followed by a formal welcome address by Prof. Jogiswar Goswami, Dean, School of Human Kinetics and Health.

Guest of Honour, Dr. Kandarp Kumar Deka delivered an insightful address, offering thoughtful guidance on the future growth of the University.

The Chief Guest Dr. Kulendu Pathak delivered a distinguished lecture on “Changing Role of Universities in the 21st Century”, providing profound perspectives and enriching the academic atmosphere of the event.
The entire event was compered by Dr. Mridusmita Phukan, faculty of the University
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sri Arijit Hazarika, and the day’s celebrations came to a close with the rendition of Assam’s National Anthem.

Para-Cyclist and Mountaineer Ms. Nisha Kumari Visits Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University

Under the initiative of the Fit India Movement, launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2019, Ms. Nisha Kumari, a distinguished para-cyclist and mountaineer currently undertaking a cross-country campaign titled “Pedal to Plant 2025”, visited Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University (SASU), Dibrugarh, on 3rd November 2025.
The University accorded a warm welcome to the team led by Ms. Kumari at its Study Center and organized an interaction program with students, faculty members, Ph.D. scholars, and University officials. The visiting team included Ms. Niksha Barot, Mr. Nilesh Barot, and Ms. Anjana Yadav.
The event was jointly facilitated by Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), coordinated by Mr. Pankaj Borthakur, Registrar of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University (SASU), and officials from SAI’s Upper Assam regional centers. Prof. Jogiswar Goswami, Dean, School of Human Kinetics & Health, Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, moderated and conducted the entire interactive session.
The cross-country cycling expedition began at Pangsau Pass, Arunachal Pradesh, and will conclude at Mundra, Gujarat, covering over 4,000 km across multiple states. The initiative integrates cycling, recycling, and plantation drives to promote fitness and environmental responsibility. The mission aims to plant 1,00,000 saplings while engaging schools, colleges, and communities in awareness programmes dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, in collaboration with SAI, successfully hosted the interaction and plantation activities on campus as part of this national-level campaign. The University continues to contribute meaningfully toward initiatives that unify the country while encouraging fitness, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility.

A distinguished team of teachers, trainees, faculty members, staff, and students from Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University visited "Vidya-The Living School", Subahi, in Dhemaji district, on 1st October 2025.
Nestled in the lap of lush green nature, Vidya-The Living School has been thoughtfully designed under the able leadership of Dr. Pranjal Buragohain, Asst. Professor in the Department of Education, Dibrugarh University, with the support of a group of dedicated young men and women, to protect children from stress, an environment free from the negative influence of artificial surroundings and isolation of mechanized urban environments.

This vibrant school emphasizes holistic development through academics, sports, yoga, handwork, and various outdoor activities, nurturing young minds and their talents in the most natural and lively way through joyful and organic learning.

Celebration of the 100th Birth Anniversary of "Sudhakantha" Dr. Bhupen Hazarika..

Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University celebrated the 100th Birth Anniversary of Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary music maestro, lyricist, and cultural icon of Assam, at the University’s Study Centre. The program paid rich tributes to his remarkable contributions in the fields of music, art, literature, and social reform.

The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tributes offered to the portrait of Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika by the Registrar, Shri Pankaj Borthakur; Dean, Prof. Jogiswar Goswami; and Controller of Examinations, Shri Arinjit Hazarika, faculty members, officers, and students. The occasion was further enriched with soulful songs and cultural performances dedicated to his timeless creations.

Faculty members, staff, and students shared their reflections on Dr. Hazarika’s life and legacy, emphasizing how his works continue to inspire generations with messages of unity, humanity, and harmony. A special musical tribute was presented by Prof. Jogiswar Goswami on the saxophone, which added to the solemnity and grace of the occasion.

Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University celebrated *National Sports Day* on 29th August 2025 with great zeal and enthusiasm to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The celebration began with a tribute to the sporting icon, followed by a series of activities aimed at promoting fitness, sportsmanship, and awareness about the importance of physical education in daily life.

On this occasion, students, faculty members, and staff actively participated in various sporting events. Awareness sessions and interactive talks were also conducted to highlight the role of sports in shaping character, discipline, and leadership qualities among youth.

To inspire and motivate the students, Sri Inamul Hussain, a renowned Boxing Coach from Assam, was invited as the Guest Speaker. He delivered an engaging speech on the importance of boxing, its role in developing discipline and resilience, and the growing opportunities for young athletes in the sport.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Pankaj Borthakur, Registrar, Prof. Jogiswar Goswami, Dean and Sri Arinjit Hazarika, Controller of Examinations, emphasized the significance of sports as a tool for holistic development and encouraged everyone to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to the winners of different competitions, symbolizing the spirit of participation and achievement.
