An awareness programme on the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026–27 for Girls was held today at Sankardev Sabhakakshya, DHSK College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh. The scholarship offers ₹30,000 per year to girls from disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing their first undergraduate degree or diploma, providing valuable financial support to help them continue their higher education and achieve their academic aspirations.

The programme was attended by Principal Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Vice-President Dr. Partha Ganguli, and Priyanka Guswami. A senior faculty member of the School of Continuing Education joined the programme as the resource person and guided the students on the scholarship opportunity, eligibility criteria, and the importance of accessing financial support for higher education.

Programmes like these play a vital role in connecting students with opportunities that can shape their educational journey and future. By creating awareness and encouraging young women to pursue higher education, such initiatives contribute towards building a more inclusive and empowered society. A two-day workshop on competitive examination preparation was organised by Digital Path Academy at DHSK College (Autonomous), focusing on APSC, ADRE, Assam Police, Banking and SSC examinations.

The workshop aimed to provide students with practical guidance and effective strategies for preparing for upcoming competitive examinations. Principal Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, along with other professors, was present during the programme. Students actively participated in the sessions and gained valuable insights into preparation strategies, study planning and approaching competitive examinations with greater confidence.

A two-day Photography Workshop was organised by the Sports and Cultural Board of DHSK College (Autonomous) on 19 and 20 August 2026, conducted by Himadri Bhuyan. The programme began with an inaugural speech by the Principal of DHSK College (Autonomous), Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, who addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of photography as a creative and practical skill. A large number of students participated in the workshop with enthusiasm.

The first day of the workshop focused on the theoretical aspects of photography. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of photography and various important concepts related to the medium, providing them with a strong foundation before moving on to the practical session.

The second day focused on the technical and practical aspects of photography through an outdoor session. The students got an opportunity to apply the concepts learned during the theory session and gain hands-on experience in handling photography equipment and capturing images in an outdoor environment. The workshop provided the participants with valuable exposure to both the creative and technical dimensions of photography.

As part of Anti-Ragging Week, a Street Play was organised by the Anti-Ragging Committee, DHSK College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the IQAC, DHSK College (Autonomous).

Through a powerful and engaging performance, the students highlighted the harmful consequences of ragging and conveyed an important message about respect, dignity, empathy and responsible behaviour.

The play was written and directed by Mriganka Nath, Head of the Department of Performing Arts, DHSK College.

The programme served as a meaningful awareness initiative, encouraging students to contribute towards a campus culture where everyone feels safe, respected and included.

Together, let us say no to ragging and stand for a safe, supportive and respectful campus.

The 80th Independence Day at DHSK College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh, was more than a celebration. It was a moment to come together, reflect on the journey of our nation and celebrate the people who continue to contribute to society in their own ways.

The felicitation of an emerging journalist from Dibrugarh made the occasion even more meaningful. Recognising young talent is also a way of encouraging responsible journalism, strong voices and the courage to tell stories that matter.

Principal’s Last Class 3.0 was held on 13 August 2026 at Srimanta Sankardev Sabhakakshya, DHSK College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh, bringing together the college community for an occasion of reflection, appreciation and shared memories.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Dabajit Saikia, Principal, Majuli College, who spoke about the dedication, achievements and growth of DHSK College and appreciated the contribution of Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Principal, DHSK College (Autonomous). Nanimadhav Borkotoky, Member of the Governing Body and alumnus of the college, attended as the Special Guest. He performed a soulful song by legendary singer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and encouraged students to always uphold humanity, compassion and empathy in life.

In his address, Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia spoke affectionately about the students and the bond he shares with them. He reflected on his role not only as the Principal but also as a guiding and caring figure, always committed to supporting and encouraging students in their academic and personal journeys. The occasion beautifully celebrated leadership, learning and the enduring bond between an institution, its teachers and its students.
