On 29th September, 2026, D.H.S.K. (Autonomous) College, Dibrugarh, hosted a captivating Western Classical Music programme at the DHSK College Auditorium, presented by the Dibrugarh Chapter of S**C MACAY in collaboration with the SRE Foundation and Jyotilal Kanakoi Foundation, Dibrugarh.
The programme featured renowned Yamaha Artist Nise Meruno along with the Tetso College Ensemble, who presented a memorable evening of Western classical music.
The programme was attended by Principal Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, along with faculty members and students of the college.
The event offered students an enriching opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty of Western classical music and diverse forms of artistic expression.

DHSK College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh, through its Yuva Tourism Club, organized an Inter-Departmental Quiz Competition on 29th September 2026 at Srimanta Sankardev Sabhakakshya, DHSK College, to commemorate World Tourism Day 2026.
The event provided students with an opportunity to test and enhance their knowledge of tourism, geography, destinations, culture, and the diverse heritage of India, with special emphasis on Northeast India.
The College extends its best wishes to all the participating students and appreciates the efforts of the Yuva Tourism Club for organizing the programme and providing students with an engaging platform for learning and participation.

The D.H.S.K. College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh, organised an Institution-Level Speech Competition on 23 September 2026 at the Srimanta Sankardev Sabhakakshya, as part of Seva Sankalp, in accordance with the SOP of the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam. The competition provided students with a meaningful platform to articulate their ideas, demonstrate their oratory skills and engage in constructive public discourse.
The competition was adjudicated by Dr Mitali Chaliha, Mr Rajib Lochan Bora, Dr Moromi Talukdar, and Dr Bidyot Bikash Gogoi. Their valuable observations and feedback encouraged the participants to express their views with greater confidence, clarity and effectiveness.
The programme reflected the college’s commitment to fostering effective communication, critical thinking, confidence and public speaking skills among students, while creating opportunities for meaningful academic and co-curricular engagement.

The Department of Hindi, DHSK College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh, celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm, commemorating the richness of the Hindi language and its significant place in India’s linguistic and literary heritage.

The programme was attended by Krishna Kanta Bordoloi, HoD, Department of Hindi, along with Aarti Kumar Thakur and Khusbu Harijan, Faculty Members, Department of Hindi.

The Department of English, DHSK College (Autonomous), organised an invited talk on “Approaches to Critical Theory” on 15 September 2026 at the Srimanta Sankardev Sabhakakshya.

Prof. Sukalpa Bhattacharjee, the invited speaker, delivered an insightful session on key approaches to critical theory, offering students valuable perspectives on literature, culture and contemporary thought. The session was followed by an interactive academic discussion.

The programme was attended by Vice Principal Dr Partha Ganguly, Member Secretary, Academic Council Dr JP Phukan, Controller of Examinations Dr Mridul Sarma, IQAC Coordinator Dr Dipankoj Gogoi, and Head of the Department of English Dr Madhumita Purkayastha, along with faculty members and students.

The programme concluded with the screening of two short films, “Behind the Smile” and “Override,” produced by 1st Semester students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication under the guidance of Jiaur Rahman.

DHSK College (Autonomous), through its ACTA Women’s Cell, in collaboration with CWSD, organised a lecture programme on “Women’s Voice Represented in Popular Mythology” on 14 September 2026 at the Srimanta Sankardev Sabhakakshya.
The programme featured Prof. Sukalpa Bhattacharjee, Department of English, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), as the Resource Person. The session explored the representation of women, their voices and perspectives in popular mythology, encouraging students and participants to engage with the subject through critical, literary and cultural perspectives.
Adding a creative dimension to the programme, Mriganka Nath presented a process drama, enriching the academic discussion through performance and interpretation.
The programme provided an engaging platform for reflection and dialogue on women’s representation, gender and cultural narratives, while reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering critical thinking and meaningful academic engagement.

An awareness programme on the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026–27 for Girls was held today at Sankardev Sabhakakshya, DHSK College (Autonomous), Dibrugarh. The scholarship offers ₹30,000 per year to girls from disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing their first undergraduate degree or diploma, providing valuable financial support to help them continue their higher education and achieve their academic aspirations.

The programme was attended by Principal Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia, Vice-President Dr. Partha Ganguli, and Priyanka Guswami. A senior faculty member of the School of Continuing Education joined the programme as the resource person and guided the students on the scholarship opportunity, eligibility criteria, and the importance of accessing financial support for higher education.

Programmes like these play a vital role in connecting students with opportunities that can shape their educational journey and future. By creating awareness and encouraging young women to pursue higher education, such initiatives contribute towards building a more inclusive and empowered society.
