Celebrating 9 Glorious Years of Government Dental College, Dibrugarh!

From its humble beginning in 2018 to becoming a growing centre of dental education, healthcare, and service, Government Dental College, Dibrugarh proudly marks its 9th Foundation Day. Nine years of learning, healing, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to serving society.

The celebration commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolising the light of knowledge and the beginning of another chapter. This was followed by the cake-cutting ceremony, marking nine years of togetherness and achievement.

The gathering was then addressed by our respected Principal, Dr. Chandana Kalita ma'am ,whose words reflected upon the journey of the institution and inspired everyone to carry its legacy forward.

The atmosphere was filled with pride as the students presented the College Anthem, followed by an insightful address by Dr. Dipanjal Saikia Sir.

A nostalgic video presentation showcasing the journey of the college since its foundation took everyone through the memories, milestones, and evolution of our institution.

The celebration continued with an inspiring address by Dr. Lalit Chandra Baruah Sir, reminding us of the values of dedication, perseverance, and service that form the foundation of a great institution.

From 2018 to today, the journey continues.

*A Historic Milestone in Oral Pathology at Government Dental College, Dibrugarh*

14th September 2026 marks a landmark day for Government Dental College, Dibrugarh, with the inauguration of the Histopathology Laboratory of the Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology.

This state-of-the-art facility is a historic achievement, being the first dedicated Histopathology Laboratory in a Department of Oral Pathology in the entire Northeast India. It marks a significant step towards advancing diagnostic services, academic excellence, research, and practical training in the region.

The inauguration was graced by Dr. Anjan Kumar Saikia, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Oral Pathology, Regional Dental College, Guwahati, and the first Oral Pathologist from Northeast India. His presence and valuable insights added immense significance to this momentous occasion and served as an inspiration for students and faculty alike.

Under the leadership of our respected Principal, Dr. Chandana Kalita, this initiative reflects the institution’s continued commitment towards strengthening healthcare, education, and research infrastructure.

For our students, this laboratory opens new avenues for hands-on exposure to histopathological techniques, understanding disease processes at the microscopic level, clinical correlation, research, and academic learning. It also holds immense potential for future postgraduate training and specialization in Oral Pathology.

Most importantly, this facility is a step forward for patient care. With biopsy processing and histopathological services available within the institution, patients can benefit from a more time-efficient and cost-effective diagnostic process, with investigations made accessible at nominal charges. This can significantly reduce the need for patients to seek such services elsewhere while facilitating timely diagnosis and management.

From learning under the microscope to understanding the disease at cellular level, this laboratory will help nurture the next generation of dental professionals and researchers.

For three impactful days, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College, Dibrugarh, united students, faculty, healthcare professionals, cancer survivors, and the community under the theme "Unmasking the Appeal – Countering Ni****ne and To***co Addiction."

From school awareness camps and community rallies to street plays, competitions, cultural performances, and inspiring speeches by distinguished guests, the campaign highlighted the devastating effects of to***co use and the importance of prevention and cessation.

The participation of cancer survivors served as a powerful reminder of the real-life consequences of to***co addiction, strengthening our collective commitment towards a healthier future.

Celebrating National Periodontist Day at Government Dental College, Dibrugarh was a truly memorable occasion, marked by enthusiasm, creativity, and academic pride. The event was conducted under the inspiring guidance of Dr. Liza Pathak, Head of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, whose dedication continues to shape future dental professionals.
We were deeply honoured by the gracious presence of our respected Principal, Dr. Chandana Kalita, and our esteemed guest, Dr. Manjula Das, Principal of Government Dental College, Silchar, whose words added immense value to the celebration.
The programme featured creative reels prepared by our talented intern batches, along with vibrant dance and soulful chorus performances by students, reflecting the spirit and unity of the college.
A special highlight of the event was the prize distribution ceremony, where six honours students were felicitated for their academic excellence. The winners of the Wall Magazine Competition were also awarded, celebrating creativity and awareness in the field of periodontology.
