and Illicit Trafficking is observed globally on 26th June each year. In 2026, the Government of India observed it through a week-long campaign under Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah to promote awareness on substance abuse and its prevention.
Digboi College, Autonomous organized various programs from 17th June 2026 to 26th June 2026 under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah. During the week, the following programs were organized for students:
• Talk on Drug and Drug abuse by Mr. Rajib Rudra Tariang, HOD Zoology Department and Dr. Kishor Haloi, Assistant Professor Department of Zoology
• Pledge Taking Ceremony – Students pledged to stay away from drugs and to***co
• Registration Drive for Nasha Mukta Mitra – Students enrolled as anti-drug volunteers
• Signature Campaign – “My Promise to Say No” signature wall
• Poster and Slogan Making Competition – To encourage creative expression on the theme
• Screening of Awareness Films – Documentaries and short films on ill effects of drug abuse
day on 26th June 2026 was observed with a formal program:
• Inauguration: The program was inaugurated by Dr. Pabitra Bharali, Principal, Digboi College, Autonomous.
• Expert Talk: A talk on “Drug Abuse: Prevention & Community Role” was delivered by Dr. Nirza Saikia, Digboi Community Health Centre, as Chief Guest.
• Prize Distribution: Winners of the Poster and Slogan Making Competition were awarded prizes during the meeting.
The events were coordinated jointly by: Anti-Tobacco Cell, NSS Unit, Human Development Subcommittee and IQAC, Digboi College, Autonomous.
The week-long celebration created awareness among students about the health, social, and legal consequences of drug abuse. Through pledge, volunteer registration, and creative competitions, students actively participated and reaffirmed their commitment to a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
The observance of 26th June 2026 at Digboi College successfully aligned with the national theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah. The active involvement of students and faculty made the campaign impactful.
