Discipline Builds Success: Lt. Col. Prachetan Gahatraj Inspires NEISSR Freshers

The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima, celebrated its 12th Fresher’s Day on 12 August 2026 at BAM Hall, formally welcoming the newly admitted students of the BSW and MSW programmes.
The occasion was graced by Lt. Col. Prachetan Gahatraj, Commanding Officer, 24 Nagaland Battalion NCC, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the freshers, he emphasized the importance of discipline, confidence, physical fitness, mental robustness, goal-setting and perseverance in building a successful life and career.
Drawing from his experience with the NCC, he encouraged students to go “Beyond the Ordinary,” remain committed to their goals, and view failures and setbacks as opportunities to learn, reflect and grow. He also urged them to make the most of the guidance and mentorship provided by their faculty.
In his welcome address, Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto, Principal, NEISSR, described the students’ entry into NEISSR as the beginning of a journey of transformation, learning, experience and service. Reflecting on his own social work journey and fieldwork experience, he highlighted the importance of engaging directly with communities to develop compassion and a deeper understanding of social realities.
He encouraged the freshers to make full use of NEISSR’s academic, fieldwork and community-based learning opportunities and to uphold the values of compassion, service, professional excellence and social responsibility.

A new journey begins. A journey of learning, growth, discipline, compassion and service.
Welcome to the NEISSR family, dear freshers!
