Eminent academician and administrator Prof. Sanjay Kaushik formally assumed charge today as the Vice-Chancellor of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. Prof. Kaushik, who currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Gurugram University, has taken on this additional responsibility as the ninth Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Upon assuming office, Prof. Kaushik was warmly welcomed with floral bouquets by Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga, alongside deans, department chairpersons, and senior officials of J.C. Bose University. Immediately following the reception, Prof. Kaushik chaired a high-level review meeting with all Deans and Chairpersons.

Expressing his gratitude to the Governor of Haryana and Chancellor, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, for entrusting him with this role, Prof. Kaushik stated that he will make every effort to fulfill the state government’s vision and expectations. Describing J.C. Bose University as one of the premier institutions in Haryana, he outlined his top priorities: accelerating ongoing academic and infrastructure projects, expanding the research and innovation ecosystem, and leveraging the university's strategic proximity to Faridabad and Gurugram for enhanced student career outcomes.

Prof. Sanjay Kaushik has been assigned this additional responsibility by the Hon'ble Governor and Chancellor, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, pending the completion of the selection process for a regular Vice Chancellor, per the notification issued by Haryana Lok Bhavan, Chandigarh. He succeeds Prof. Rajive Kumar, who served as Vice Chancellor since September 11, 2025, and recently resigned due to personal reasons.

Prof. Kaushik is a Professor at the University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, bringing over 36 years of teaching, research, and administrative experience. He previously served as Director of the ICSSR North-Western Regional Centre for 7 years. His accolades include the Him Ratna-2023 Award by Pratibha Spandan Society, Shimla; the Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Shiksha Samman Award 2022 by Genius Brain and HRD Mission, Delhi; the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Best Teacher and Research Award-2020 by ARAS, Panjab; the PCMA Young Researcher Award-2015; and the Excellent Research Award-2012 by EGRO, Panjab.

J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, organized a heartfelt farewell ceremony to honour the tenure of its outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rajive Kumar.

Prof. Rajive Kumar was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Sangeeta Kansal. The event, jointly organized by the teaching, administrative, and workshop staff associations, was presided over by the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, and attended by Deans, Chairpersons, administrative staff, and faculty members from both J.C. Bose University and Gurugram University. Prof. Sanjay Kaushik will assume charge as Vice Chancellor of the University on September 23, 2026.

Prof. Kumar, who had been serving as Vice-Chancellor since September 11, 2025, recently tendered his resignation due to personal reasons. Following a notification issued by Haryana Lok Bhavan, Chandigarh, the Haryana Government has assigned the additional charge of Vice-Chancellor to Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Vice-Chancellor of Gurugram University, until the selection process for a regular Vice-Chancellor is completed.

Addressing the gathering, Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga expressed profound gratitude to Prof. Kumar for his visionary leadership and acknowledged his significant contributions toward promoting the Research and Innovation ecosystem in the University, while also sharing his close professional association with him.

During the program, several key achievements of Prof. Kumar's tenure were acknowledged, including the establishment of Centres of Excellence on EV Technology, Data Centre on AI and ML, and UAV and Anti-Drone Technology. His tenure was also marked by major examination reforms through the introduction of a Digital Evaluation System, the setup of a Central Research Facility, recognition of NCVET as an Awarding Body, receipt of the NIDHI i-TBI grant, promotion of Alumni Connect, and overall campus infrastructure development.

The event featured addresses by Dr. Sanjay Kumar (President, Faculty Association), Sh. Rajdeep (President, Non-Teaching Association), Prof. Munish Vashishath (Dean, Institutions), Prof. Pawan Singh (OSD to VC), Prof. Sanjeev Goyal, Sh. Ajay Taneja (Superintending Engineer), and Dr. Meha Sharma (Deputy Registrar), who all shared their personal and professional experiences of working with Prof. Rajive Kumar. To commemorate his leadership, a special documentary showcasing the key achievements and journey of Prof. Rajive Kumar was also displayed on the occasion.

In his farewell address, Prof. Rajive Kumar expressed deep gratitude to the entire university fraternity for their unwavering support and dedication throughout his tenure. He emphasized that the collective efforts of the faculty and staff are pivotal in driving innovation and elevating the institution's academic standard.

J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, commenced its Induction Programme 2026 for newly admitted students of engineering and allied programmes. Organised jointly by the Faculty of Informatics and Computing and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the programme aims to familiarise students with the University's academic framework, facilities and campus ecosystem while helping them make a confident and meaningful transition to university life.

The inaugural session was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar, Chief Guest Prof. D. B. Lobiyal, Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and Guest of Honour Prof. Dilip Kumar Sharma, Dean, International Relations and Academic Collaborations, GLA University, Mathura. Deans, Chairpersons, faculty members and newly admitted students attended the programme.

Welcoming the new entrants, Prof. Ashutosh Dixit, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, highlighted the importance of campus life in shaping students beyond the classroom. He said that the induction programme would help students understand the University's academic environment, culture and opportunities while enabling them to begin their journey with confidence and clarity.

Addressing the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar extended his best wishes to the newly admitted students and encouraged them to make the best possible use of the University's academic resources, laboratories, faculty expertise and other facilities. He observed that the induction programme provides an important platform for students to understand the University's functioning, values and learning environment and to develop a sense of belonging from the very beginning of their academic journey.

Prof. Manjeet Singh, Dean, Faculty of Informatics and Computing, urged students to explore the University's extensive academic and infrastructural resources and utilise the opportunities available for their overall development. He also interacted with the students to understand their aspirations and expectations as they embark upon their university journey.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dilip Kumar Sharma, Guest of Honour, said that the purpose of education extends beyond merely earning a degree and should ultimately contribute to creating a positive impact on society. He encouraged students to dream big, work hard, acquire knowledge consistently and learn to work smartly in the era of Artificial Intelligence. He emphasised the importance of critical thinking, strong engineering fundamentals, problem analysis, solution-oriented approaches and investigative skills. He particularly highlighted the importance of mathematics in emerging areas such as machine learning and data structures.

Prof. D. B. Lobiyal, Chief Guest, advised students not to view marks as the sole measure of success. He said that while good academic performance has its importance, genuine knowledge, seriousness of purpose, focused efforts and patience are essential for sustained achievement in professional life. He encouraged students to remain committed to their goals and develop a strong foundation of knowledge during their university years.

Dr. Mamta Kathuria, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Applications, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members and students for their participation in the inaugural session.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Raj Kumar, Prof. Sanjeev Goyal, Dr. Ashlesha, Dr. Rashmi and Dr. Manvi from the respective faculties.

On the first day, departmental orientation sessions and briefings were conducted by the respective department coordinators, acquainting students with their academic programmes, curricula, departmental facilities and learning opportunities.

The Induction Programme will continue over the coming days with a series of academic, cultural, interactive and student-engagement activities, designed to provide the new entrants with a holistic introduction to university life and facilitate a smooth, confident and enriching beginning to their academic journey.

J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad organised a Mental Health Talk and HIV/AIDS Awareness Session, in collaboration with the District Mental Health Programme and OST HIV/AIDS Department, Civil Hospital, Faridabad.

The session focused on promoting mental well-being, su***de prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness and drug de-addiction among students and stakeholders.

- Ms. Preeti Yadav, Clinical Psychologist, sensitised participants on mental health and su***de prevention.

- Ms. Anita, OST Counsellor, created awareness about HIV/AIDS and drug de-addiction.

- Participants were introduced to Tele-MANAS Helpline 14416 and HIV/AIDS Helpline 1097.

- A self-risk assessment scanner was also provided to the University to support awareness and early assessment.

Around 100–150 students and stakeholders participated in the session.

The activity was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ankur Sharma, Medical Officer, J.C. Bose University.

J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, successfully organised the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 Internal Screening Round on 10th and 11th September 2026 in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The two-day Internal Hackathon was held under the guidance and leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar and Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga, with the support and active involvement of the Institution’s Innovation Council. The activities were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Rashmi Agarwal (President, IIC), Dr. Poonam (Vice President, IIC), and Dr. Nikhil Dev (Convener, IIC). The event was coordinated by Dr. Payal Gulati, SPOC, SIH, and Dr. Sonam, Faculty Coordinator.

The Internal Screening Round witnessed an overwhelming response from the university, with 113 teams comprising 678 students participating in the event. The participating teams presented innovative and technology-driven solutions based on the official Smart India Hackathon 2026 problem statements, addressing real-world challenges across diverse domains. The innovative solutions were evaluated through a rigorous screening process by a distinguished jury panel comprising Mr. Neeraj Swarup Sharma, Senior Manager–Technology, Nagarro and SIH Evaluator; Mr. Sh*tij Nagpal, Group Leader – Program & Delivery Manager, IBM; Dr. Shivam, English Language Educator, Author, Researcher, and Founder of Jashna Edu; and Dr. Munish Khanna, Professor (CSE), Galgotias University.

Following the detailed evaluation and screening process, 46 teams were shortlisted for the next stage of Smart India Hackathon 2026. The successful conduct of the Internal Screening Round marks an important milestone in the university’s continued efforts to promote innovation, creativity, technological ingenuity, and solution-oriented thinking among its students.

J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today celebrated its 58th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm, marking nearly six decades of academic excellence, innovation, and institutional legacy. The event was organized by the Office of the Dean, Student Welfare.

The grand program was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Sh. Prem Malhotra, Founder Member of the MOB (YMCA Alumni Association), attended as the Guest of Honour. Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga was also present on this occasion. The event commenced with the dignitaries paying floral tributes at the bust of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, followed by a review of innovative student projects and the screening of a University’s Documentary.

Presiding over the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar stated that Foundation Day provides an invaluable occasion to reflect on institutional milestones while setting vision goals for the future. Highlighting recent achievements in research, innovation, and skill development, he expressed immense satisfaction with the pace of growth over the past year and thanked all supporting staff for their contributions. Prof. Rajive Kumar also unveiled major upcoming infrastructure projects, including a multi-story boys' hostel for 600 students, a modern academic building with advanced teaching facilities, a 500-capacity auditorium, and a new administrative block, while urging students to focus on skills and innovation.

Addressing the gathering, Guest of Honor Sh. Prem Malhotra recalled the early days of the institution since its inception in 1969 and praised its rich legacy. He highlighted the inspiring success stories of alumni, emphasizing those who built successful enterprises in Faridabad and achieved notable milestones like public IPO listings. Commending the university's recent administrative and academic initiatives, Sh. Prem Malhotra encouraged students to fully utilize campus facilities, enhance their technical skills, and embrace entrepreneurship.

In his address, Chief Guest Prof. Pragati Kumar congratulated the university on its 58-year journey and reflected on his personal association with the institute. He remarked that the university possesses a glorious past and holds a national reputation on par with the country's top institutions. Emphasizing its strategic location and strong alumni network, Prof. Pragati Kumar urged the institution to explore sustainable growth models that leverage its unique brand value to scale even greater heights without relying solely on government funding.

The program also featured vibrant cultural performances by students from various university clubs, followed by a dedicated award ceremony recognizing faculty members and scholars for outstanding contributions to research. Ms. Parul from the Department of Chemistry was honoured with the Young Scientist Award 2026. Faculty members Dr. Deepansh Sharma and Dr. Ashima Sharma received appreciation awards for securing Industrial Research Grants, while Dr. Shakuntla and Dr. Nitin Goel were recognized for obtaining Certificate of Design Registration as patentees under the university's name. Additionally, Dr. Deepansh Sharma and Dr. Yogendra Arya were felicitated for being listed among the world's top 2% scientists based on percentile citations.
A total of 11 faculty members—Dr. Anurag Prakash Sunda, Dr. Yogendra Arya, Dr. Anuj Kumar, Dr. Nitin Panwar, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Attri, Dr. Ashima Sharma, Dr. Deepansh Sharma, Dr. Kakoli Dutt, Dr. Sakshi Tewari, Dr. Manvi, and Dr. Shilpa Sethi—were also presented appreciation awards for securing sponsored research projects. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga.

In a step toward modernizing campus infrastructure and streamlining administrative operations, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar today inaugurated the newly renovated Registrar Office. The upgraded facility features an expanded support office designed to accommodate a higher volume of visitors while fostering a seamless, visitor-friendly environment.

Speaking at the inauguration, Prof. Rajive Kumar commended Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga for leading the modernization initiative. He highlighted the institution's commitment to optimizing its existing infrastructure to maximize efficiency and support academic growth. The Registrar Office serves as the nerve center for all key administrative operations across the University. Maintaining high functional standards, proper decorum, and an inviting space for students, faculty, and guests is essential, the Vice Chancellor added.

Expressing his gratitude on the occasion, Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar for his continuous support and guidance. He noted that the upgraded facility would significantly improve day-to-day operations and help the administrative team serve students, faculty, and visitors more effectively.

The inauguration was attended by key university officials, including Dean (Academic Affairs) Prof. Atul Mishra, Dean (Faculty of Engineering & Technology) Prof. Rajesh Ahuja, Dean (Faculty of Liberal Arts & Media Studies Prof. Anuradha Sharma, Dean (Outreach and Media Relations) Prof. Pawan Singh, and Controller of Finance Prof. Komal Bhatia. Deputy Registrars Dr. Meha Sharma, Sh. Munish Gupta, and Sh. Sachin Gupta were also present alongside other senior officers and staff members of the university.
