The College is situated at the historical town of Fatehgarh Sahib, a district head quarter about 4 kilometers from Sirhind Railway Station. Mata Gujri College was founded in 1957 to commemorate the supreme martyrdom of Mata Gujri, the revered mother of the Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh. ahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh who were bricked alive by the tyrannical Mughal rulers, the college was built brick by brick by its founders. Bibi Gurbachan Kaur Mann, the founder of the college was a lady of great determination and dedication & vision whose sole ambition was to promote higher education in the area. Starting on a humble scale, the college now boasts of a sprawling campus spread over more than 25 acres. The college was taken over by the S.G.P.C.,Amritsar in 1964. The College is under the overall management of S.G.P.C. Panth Ratan, Late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra who remained the president of the college managing committee as well as the SGPC for a record period of more than 25 years was the main spirit behind the overall development of the college in various fields of education. The college has a huge campus comprising of Admn Block,Life Sciences Block, Management and Computer Science Block,Commerce Block, Science Block, Arts Block and Girls Wing. The college has eight well equipped computer labs with latest computers.Campus is fully Wi Fi enabled.College is having Fully AC well stocked library with more than 55,000 Books, a sports Stadium with all modern amenities, a well furnished canteen, separate boys hostel and Girls hostel and required parking facilities. The college owns four buses to transport students from cities like Chandigarh, Patiala, Panchkula,Amloh,Mandi Gobindgarh,Khanna and some other areas. The Department of Mathematics celebrated the International Day of Mathematics on 14 March 2026 with great enthusiasm. The event was organized by the Mathematics Association – The Logic Legends to highlight the theme “Mathematics and Hope,” which reflects the role of mathematics in inspiring innovative thinking and providing solutions to global challenges.

On this occasion, a series of competitions including Mathematical Games, Poster Presentation, Rangoli Competition, and Quiz Competition were organized. Students from B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics, and B.Sc. Physical Sciences participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their creativity, analytical ability, and teamwork.

The competitions were judged by Prof. Rajinder kaur mann, Dr. Navdeep Singh, Dr. Monika, Dr. Lovneet Kaur and Prof. Joga Singh, who appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity, and mathematical understanding displayed by the participants.

Dr. Kashmir Singh, Director-Principal of the college, appreciated the Department of Mathematics for successfully organizing the event and encouraging students to develop interest in mathematics through creative and interactive activities.

Prof. Namita Berry, Head of the Department, applauded the efforts of the organizing team and encouraged students to explore mathematics beyond textbooks through such innovative activities.

Prof. Shivdeep Kaur, Association Incharge, emphasized that mathematics is not only a subject of numbers and formulas but also a powerful discipline that develops logical thinking, creativity, and hope for solving real-world problems.
The event was efficiently coordinated by the Mathematics Association – The Logic Legends, with special efforts from Association President Amandeep Kaur, Vice President Rajpreet Kaur, and Media Incharge Karanbeer Singh, whose dedication contributed significantly to the success of the program.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Poonam Chawla, Prof. Sham Bansal, Prof. Amarpreet Kaur, Prof. Bindia, Prof. Himanshi Sharma, Prof. Simranjot Kaur, and Prof. Saloni Kaur, along with all the students of the department.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Rajinder Pal, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Director-Principal, Head of the Department, respected judges, faculty members, and students for their valuable presence and congratulated the winners and appreciated the students for their active participation and support in making the event a grand success.

The Annual Convocation was organized at Mata Gujri College, in which the Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala, Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill attended as the Chief Guest. During this convocation, a total of 1146 students who passed postgraduate and undergraduate courses in the academic session 2023–2024 were awarded degrees, and 31 meritorious students were honoured with Gold Medals.
While congratulating the students who received their degrees, the Chief Guest, Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill, said that receiving education from a college named after Mata Gujri Ji on the sacred land of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib is a matter of great pride for the students. He encouraged the students to remain obedient to their parents and teachers, adopt high moral values, and stay dedicated to their goals. The 58th Annual Athletic Meet was organized with great enthusiasm at Mata Gujri College where Engineer Sukhminder Singh, Secretary Education, Directorate of Education, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Gurparamjot Singh of B.A.-II won the title of Best Athlete, while Vishal Saini of B.A.J.M.C.-I secured the title of Second Best Athlete. Similarly, Harmanjot Kaur of M.C.A.-I bagged the Best Athlete title, while Jaismeen Kaur of B.A.-I won the Second Best Athlete title. In the March-Past competition, NSS Unit, Languages department, and Department of Management Studies secured the first, second, and third positions respectively.
Congratulating the college staff and students on the successful organization of the annual athletic meet, Chief Guest Er. Sukhminder Singh said that Mata Gujri College is one of the premier educational institutions of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. The Training and Placement Cell of Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib successfully conducted a Campus Placement Drive today for UG and PG final year students. A total of 60 students from MBA, BBA, B.Com, and BAF final year actively participated in the recruitment process.
The drive was conducted by ICICI Bank for the position of Relationship Manager. The bank is offering an attractive package of 5 LPA CTC along with performance-based incentives under its corporate employment solutions group.
During the session, Mr. Tejdeep Singh, Key Relationship Head – Corporate Employee Solutions Group, and Mr. Sunil Bajaj, Cluster Head of ICICI Bank, provided detailed insights about the job profile, career growth opportunities, salary structure, and performance expectations. They guided students about the banking sector, corporate culture, and professional growth pathways within ICICI Bank.
The Training and Placement Cell ensured that all queries and doubts of the students regarding eligibility criteria, selection process, salary components, and role responsibilities were clearly addressed. The scrutiny process has been initiated, and the entire selection procedure will be completed within the next few days. The final results of the selected candidates will be announced shortly.

The Alumni Association (Regd.) of Mata Gujri College organized its Annual Alumni Meet at the college campus, in which a large number of former students enthusiastically participated.
On this occasion, the President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Harjinder Singh Dhami, attended as the Chief Guest. He highly appreciated the valuable contributions made by the college alumni in various fields of society and their active participation in public welfare activities. He stated that Mata Gujri College, situated on the sacred land of Fatehgarh Sahib, is spreading the light of higher education and remains committed to fulfilling all modern academic requirements.
Earlier, the College Director-Principal, Dr. Kashmir Singh, welcomed all the distinguished guests and remarked that the alumni are a priceless asset of the institution. Through their social, economic, and academic support, they continue to play a significant role in the college’s progress and in setting new standards of excellence.
The President of the Alumni Association, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, expressed happiness that the students of the college have brought laurels to the institution at national and international levels in the fields of academics, religion, culture, and sports. The Training and Placement Cell, in association with the Department of Management Studies, organized a one-day workshop on “AI Tools for Career Planning” for MBA and BBA final year students. The workshop was conducted by Anudip Foundation, authorized training partner of IBM SkillsBuild. All faculty members of the Department were present during the session.
The resource person, Mr. Bhawani Shankar, Senior Faculty and AI Trainer, highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals with domain-specific knowledge. He demonstrated various AI tools useful for freshers, including AI-based resume builders, ATS-friendly resume optimization techniques, job-matching platforms, and interview preparation tools. Students were guided on how AI can help in creating professional resumes, identifying skill gaps, and planning career paths effectively.
He also informed students about free certification programs offered by IBM SkillsBuild in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and Professional Skills, encouraging them to enroll to enhance their employability.
Dr. Kashmir Singh, Director Principal, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of integrating AI with management education. He further stated that exposure to emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence prepares students to face global competition and enhances their analytical and decision-making capabilities. He motivated students to actively adopt innovative tools to remain relevant in the evolving job market.

Water Testing workshop was organised by the Department of Biotechnology at Bassi Pathana of district Fatehgarh Sahib on 20.02.2026. The students of MSc. (Hons.) Biotechnology 1st year and BSc. (Hons.) Biotechnology 3rd year have actively participated in the workshop. The quality of various collected water samples from village were tested on the spot. Various parameters like pH, Total dissolved solids, chlorides, fluorides and hardness were checked for all the collected water samples.
The convenor of the water testing workshop Dr. Simmi Goel, Department of Biotechnology assisted the students during water testing and also local villagers were made aware of the quality of drinking water and the health effects caused due to drinking of contaminated water. The PG Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Mata Gujri College, has organized a workshop on “AI Fundamentals” for B.Sc. (AI & DS) first- and second-year students, commencing from 24th February 2026. The workshop is being conducted by Mr. Bhawani Shankar from the Anudip Foundation, who is guiding students on the basic concepts and practical applications of Artificial Intelligence.
Faculty members from the Department of Computer Science, including Prof. Taranpreet Sidhu, Prof. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Gurjeet Kaur, and Prof. Navdeep Kaur, are also attending the workshop to enhance their knowledge and support student learning.
Simultaneously, another workshop is being organized for BCA third-year students on “Web Development. “ The resource person for this workshop is Mr. Bhupinder Singh, who is providing hands-on training and practical insights into modern web technologies. Prof. Joga Singh, faculty member of the Department of Computer Science, is also participating in the workshop.
The workshops are being conducted under the guidance of HOD, Computer Science , Prof. Rashmi Arora and the able leadership of Dr. Kashmir Singh (Director Principal). These initiatives aim to strengthen technical skills of the students and prepare them for emerging career opportunities in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Web Development.
