The Department of Mathematics celebrated the International Day of Mathematics on 14 March 2026 with great enthusiasm. The event was organized by the Mathematics Association – The Logic Legends to highlight the theme “Mathematics and Hope,” which reflects the role of mathematics in inspiring innovative thinking and providing solutions to global challenges.
On this occasion, a series of competitions including Mathematical Games, Poster Presentation, Rangoli Competition, and Quiz Competition were organized. Students from B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics, and B.Sc. Physical Sciences participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their creativity, analytical ability, and teamwork.
The competitions were judged by Prof. Rajinder kaur mann, Dr. Navdeep Singh, Dr. Monika, Dr. Lovneet Kaur and Prof. Joga Singh, who appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity, and mathematical understanding displayed by the participants.
Dr. Kashmir Singh, Director-Principal of the college, appreciated the Department of Mathematics for successfully organizing the event and encouraging students to develop interest in mathematics through creative and interactive activities.
Prof. Namita Berry, Head of the Department, applauded the efforts of the organizing team and encouraged students to explore mathematics beyond textbooks through such innovative activities.
Prof. Shivdeep Kaur, Association Incharge, emphasized that mathematics is not only a subject of numbers and formulas but also a powerful discipline that develops logical thinking, creativity, and hope for solving real-world problems.
The event was efficiently coordinated by the Mathematics Association – The Logic Legends, with special efforts from Association President Amandeep Kaur, Vice President Rajpreet Kaur, and Media Incharge Karanbeer Singh, whose dedication contributed significantly to the success of the program.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Poonam Chawla, Prof. Sham Bansal, Prof. Amarpreet Kaur, Prof. Bindia, Prof. Himanshi Sharma, Prof. Simranjot Kaur, and Prof. Saloni Kaur, along with all the students of the department.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Rajinder Pal, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Director-Principal, Head of the Department, respected judges, faculty members, and students for their valuable presence and congratulated the winners and appreciated the students for their active participation and support in making the event a grand success.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates, reinforcing the message that mathematics inspires creativity, knowledge, and hope for a brighter future.
