The Department of Education, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organised an insightful Edu Talk on “Adolescent Mind and Emotional Intelligence.”

The session was delivered by Dr Jasvir Kaur Chahal, Professor, Department of Education, who explored the emotional and psychological dimensions of adolescence, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy and healthy interpersonal relationships in the holistic development of young learners.

Teachers’ Day Celebration | A Decade of Dedication, A Moment of Gratitude

Teachers’ Day at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University became especially meaningful as the University honoured the Heads of Departments in recognition of their dedicated contribution to the growth and development of their respective departments.

For Dr. Harneet Billing, Founder Head of the Department of Education, the recognition was much more than an honour—it was a deeply emotional reminder of a journey that has now completed 10 years of service to the Department.

Ten years ago, the Department of Education began as an idea, a vision and a responsibility. From laying its foundations and shaping its academic journey to nurturing students, building a team and creating a space for learning and growth, the journey has been filled with challenges, milestones, countless memories and, above all, a deep sense of belonging.

To be recognised by the University at the completion of this decade makes the moment truly special.

Expressing her heartfelt gratitude, Dr. Harneet Billing thanked the University leadership for the recognition and for the trust, encouragement and support extended throughout these years. She acknowledged that no journey is ever built alone and expressed gratitude to every colleague, student and well-wisher who became a part of the Department’s story.

ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ 40 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਸੰਚਾਰ, ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਨ, ਹਮਦਰਦੀ, ਸਰੀਰਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ, ਭਰੋਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਾਸਰੂਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਹਿਮ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਹਾਰਕ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪਾਂ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮ-ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਸਗੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਕਲਾਸਰੂਮ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। 📚🎓

The Centre for Social Science Pedagogy and Development, Department of Education, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully organised a five-day workshop on “NEP 2020 & Competency-Based Social Science Education” for B.A.-B.Ed. students. The workshop aimed to familiarise prospective teachers with the vision of NEP 2020 and develop competency-based, learner-centred, activity-oriented and experiential approaches to Social Science teaching.
The workshop was organised by Mandeep Kaur, Coordinator of the Centre for Social Science Pedagogy and Development and convened by Dr Harneet Billing
The sessions of the five-day workshop were facilitated by distinguished Resource Persons, Ms. Pooja Rajak, Ms. Karamjit, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Mr Parmesher Singh and Narinder Kaur who shared their academic expertise and practical insights with the participants.
The workshop focused on developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, problem-solving and real-life application of knowledge among prospective teachers. The participants actively engaged in discussions, collaborative tasks, role plays, competency-based activities and lesson-planning exercises.

Centre of Language and pedagogical development, Department of Education concludes it's five day workshop on the theme “The Communicative Teacher: Connecting, Explaining and Inspiring.” with the session of Dr. Lakhvir Kaur.
It focused on the importance of effective communication in teaching and learning.
Students explored ways to connect with learners, explain concepts clearly, and inspire them through communication.
The session enhanced students’ confidence and understanding of effective teacher communication.

The Centre for Language Pedagogy and Development, Department of Education, continued its five-day workshop “Communicate to Connect: Enhancing Academic and Classroom Communication Skills” for B.A.-B.Ed. (Batch 2024), Semester V, Section A. On Day Three, Ms. Harmanjot Kaur served as the resource person and conducted an insightful session on “Listen First: The Intelligence of Understanding.” The session emphasized the importance of active listening, empathy, patience, and understanding the speaker’s perspective as essential elements of effective communication. Through interactive and activity-based approaches, students explored how attentive listening can strengthen classroom communication, improve learning, and build meaningful connections.
