The NCC cadets of Sikkim Government Law College, Burtuk who had previously attended the CATC were felicitated with certificates for successfully completing the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC). The certificate distribution was conducted to acknowledge the participation, discipline, and enthusiastic involvement of the cadets during the camp.

The certificates were handed over to the cadets by Dr. Sushma Sharma Ma’am and Sir Dawa Tshering Bhutia, who appreciated their dedication and active participation in the various activities conducted during the CATC camp. The cadets received their certificates with pride and enthusiasm.

Visit of the Newly Appointed Commanding Officer, 3 Sikkim Battalion NCC

Date: 18th August 2026
Venue: Sikkim Government Law College, Gangtok

Sikkim Government Law College had the privilege of welcoming Col. Vinod Kadian, the newly appointed Commanding Officer of 3 Sikkim Battalion NCC, on 18th August 2026.

During the visit, Col. Vinod Kadian spoke about the importance and benefits of NCC in developing discipline, leadership, confidence and a spirit of service among students. He also highlighted the significance of the TB Mukt Bharat and Nasha Mukt Bharat initiatives and encouraged greater youth participation in creating awareness on these important issues.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss future collaboration between 3 Sikkim Battalion NCC and Sikkim Government Law College, including the organisation of awareness programmes and other meaningful activities.

The college looks forward to strengthening this association and undertaking impactful initiatives together in the future.

Report on NCC CATC Camp

A 10-day NCC Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) was attended by 12 cadets-3 SD(Senior Devision) boys and 9 SW(Senior Wing) girls, of Sikkim Government Law College Burtuk, from 5th August to 14th August 2026. Various activities, including drill, physical training (PT), obstacle training, r***e firing, and classroom sessions on various topics including Weapon training, Map reading, Drone etc. and also various social topics like Cyber Security & Threat, POCSO, Health & Hygine, were conducted by professors of different universities during the camp.
All the cadets participated in the activities with great enthusiasm and discipline and most of them achieved victory in various competition held during the camp. The camp provided various opportunities to improve our physical health, discipline, teamwork, confidence, and basic military skills. The camp was a valuable and enriching experience for all the cadet.

The Celebration of Independence Day at Sikkim Government Law College

The Independence Day Celebration 2026 was organized at Sikkim Government Law College (SGLC) on 15 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The programme was organized by the NCC Cadets and the Eco Club. The Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff, students, and NCC cadets were present at the programme.

The programme commenced at 9:00 a.m. with everyone singing the National Anthem and “Vande Mataram.” This was followed by an address by the Principal, Dr. Dilip Pandey, who spoke about the significance of Independence Day, the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, and the responsibilities of citizens towards the nation.

The programme also included speeches and dance performances by students. The students delivered speeches on the importance of Independence Day, India’s struggle for freedom, and how the country achieved independence. The cultural performances added enthusiasm and patriotic spirit to the celebration.

An awareness initiative on “Integrating Impactful Environment Initiatives during Independence Day 2026 Celebrations” was also conducted. As part of the initiative, audio jingles carrying environmental awareness messages were played during the event to encourage students to become more conscious of environmental protection and sustainability.

The programme concluded with a speech by CTO SGLC NCC Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of patriotism, responsibility, and environmental awareness among students. Following the conclusion of the programme, refreshments were provided to the students.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Awareness Programme

An awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organised at the Moot Court Hall, Sikkim Government Law College (SGLC) on 29 July 2026. The programme was attended by the NCC cadets and students of the college.

The programme was graced by Chairperson Dr. Dilip Pandey and Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia. Dr. Dilip Pandey addressed the students and provided valuable awareness regarding Tuberculosis (TB) and AIDS. He explained the importance of maintaining good health, taking preventive measures and spreading awareness about these diseases among the community.

Following this, Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia delivered an informative session on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He highlighted the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of creating a drug-free society. He encouraged students to stay away from drugs and other harmful substances and to contribute towards spreading awareness about the consequences of substance abuse.

Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia also gave an orientation to the students regarding the National Cadet Corps (NCC). He explained the role, activities and importance of NCC in developing discipline, leadership, responsibility and a sense of service among students.

The programme was informative and engaging, providing students with valuable knowledge about health awareness, substance abuse prevention and the role of NCC. The programme concluded with refreshments being provided to the students.

Report on NCC One Day Firing Session

The National Cadet Corps aims to develop character, discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service among the youth. As part of training, firing is an important activity to build confidence, focus and responsibility in cadets.

To achieve this, firing session was organized for NCC cadets of various schools and colleges.

Cadets of Sikkim Government Law College actively participated in the event.

The main objective of the session was to give practical experience of weapon handling to NCC cadets and to improve concentration, discipline and accuracy.

The day started with reporting and attendance of the cadets.
Cadets were given a detailed demonstration about the r***e, safety rules, loading, unloading, aiming and firing positions. Each cadet got the opportunity to fire 20 rounds. Instructors guided the cadets on breathing, trigger control and target focus.

Cadets of SGLC showed great enthusiasm and discipline during the entire session and performed well, where maximum cadets hit the target with good accuracy.

Special thanks to our CTO, Sir Dawa Tshering Bhutia, for giving us the opportunity to attend this valuable session and for his constant guidance and support.

Report on International Yoga Day Celebration

The NCC Cadets of Sikkim Government Law College, Lower Burtuk, celebrated International Yoga Day through an online programme under the guidance and supervision of CTO Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia. The cadets actively participated in the yoga session and learned the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being. All participating cadets received certificates for their participation.

Send Off for NCC Cadets and Students of S.G.L.C.

The final day of the college journey marked a memorable and emotional occasion for the students of Sikkim Government Law College. To commemorate this significant milestone, the Associate NCC Officer (CTO), Mr. Dawa T. Bhutia, graciously hosted a pizza treat for both NCC cadets and non-NCC students. The event was further marked by the distribution of washing allowance to all NCC cadets.

The gathering was graced by the presence of the Principal, Dr. Dilip Pandey, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Sonam D. Bhutia, whose presence added warmth and significance to the occasion.

On behalf of all NCC cadets and students, sincere gratitude was extended to Mr. Dawa T. Bhutia for his unwavering support, encouragement, and guidance throughout their NCC journey. His dedication, mentorship, and active involvement have played a vital role in shaping and inspiring the cadets, contributing significantly to their personal growth and achievements.

The students expressed their deep appreciation for the opportunities, guidance, and encouragement provided by him over the years. As they bid farewell to college life, they acknowledged that the memories created and the values imparted through NCC would remain with them for years to come.

The occasion concluded on a note of gratitude and reflection, with students cherishing the support and mentorship received from their teachers and mentors throughout their academic and NCC journey.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION – IN COLLABORATION WITH MY BHARAT, PAKYONG
ORGANIZED BY S.G.L.C. WITH NSS, PRO BONO CLUB, ECO CLUB, AND NCC, SIKKIM GOVERNMENT LAW COLLEGE

The World Environment Day Celebration was organized by Sikkim Government Law College on 5th June 2026 in collaboration with My Bharat, Pakyong, and jointly conducted by the NSS Unit, Pro Bono Club, Eco Club, and NCC Unit. The programme was held at the Moot Court Hall and was anchored by Ms. Arati Rai and Ms. Priyanka Sharma.

The event commenced with the National Anthem, sung by the NCC cadets. Thereafter, the dignitaries and judges were welcomed and honoured with Khadas. The judges for the Painting and Stone Painting Competitions included Principal Dr. Dilip Pandey, Vice Principal Dr. Jigme Dorjee Bhutia, CTO Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia, and Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Sonam Diki Dolma Bhutia.

Following the welcome ceremony, Ms. Gulnaz Pravin delivered the Welcome Address and highlighted the significance of World Environment Day. Subsequently, CTO Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable living, and the responsibility of youth in protecting nature. This was followed by the address of the Principal, Dr. Dilip Pandey, who encouraged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices and contribute towards a greener future.

As part of the celebration, Painting and Stone Painting Competitions were organized for the students. An Environmental Quiz Competition was also conducted in the Moot Court Hall after the announcement of rules and instructions. The participants actively took part in the competitions and displayed remarkable enthusiasm, creativity, and awareness regarding environmental issues.

The programme was further enriched by an informative speech delivered by Ms. Jolasamit Lepcha, who emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability and community participation in conservation efforts. This was followed by a poem recitation by Ms. Bibachana Rai, which beautifully conveyed the message of environmental protection and harmony with nature.

The event concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where the winners of the various competitions were felicitated. A Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Sapna Chettri, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, organizers, judges, volunteers, and participants.

To mark the occasion, a Tree Plantation Drive was conducted at the end of the programme, during which plants were planted around the college campus, symbolizing the collective commitment of the college community towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.
