The NCC cadets of Sikkim Government Law College, Gangtok, under the guidance of CTO Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia, along with the support of Junior Under Officer Suraksha Gurung and Cadet Isneha Tamang, participated in an Earthquake Awareness Programme and Mock Drill.
The programme was organised with the aim of creating awareness about earthquake safety and preparing students to respond effectively during such emergencies, which are common in hilly regions like Sikkim. The session began with an informative talk by CTO Mr. Dawa Tshering Bhutia, who explained the causes and effects of earthquakes in a simple and engaging manner. He also emphasized the importance of staying calm, alert, and responsible during disaster situations. He further guided the cadets on basic safety measures, including the Drop, Cover, and Hold technique, and explained how timely action can save lives. Following the awareness session, a mock drill was conducted where cadets actively participated in evacuation and emergency response exercises.
The drill provided them with practical exposure and helped build confidence, coordination, and discipline among the participants. The session proved to be both informative and engaging, leaving the cadets better prepared to handle such situations in the future.
The programme concluded successfully with a sense of awareness and responsibility among all participants.
