IGNOU Regional Centre Gangtok organized Students' Discussion Programme on “Immediate Implementation of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam-2023”
The Students' Discussion Programme on “Immediate Implementation of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam-2023” was successfully conducted on 13th April 2026 at the IGNOU Regional Centre Gangtok.
The programme commenced with Shri Dilip Kumar Darjee, AR acting as the Organising Secretary. He extended a warm welcome to the Resource Person, dignitaries, staff, and students, setting a cordial and engaging tone for the session.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar Meena, Regional Director & Head, addressed the gathering and briefly spoke on the importance and relevance of the programme. He emphasized the need for greater awareness and academic discourse on women's representation in governance. He further introduced the Resource Person, Professor Ambika Dhaka, by elaborately highlighting her academic background, achievements, and contributions to the discipline of History.
Professor Ambika Dhaka delivered a comprehensive and insightful lecture focusing on the historical evolution of women's participation in governance, the salient features of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam-2023, and its potential implications for democratic inclusivity. Her presentation was both informative and thought-provoking, encouraging students to reflect critically on the subject.
The programme included an interactive discussion session where students actively participated by sharing their views, raising questions, and engaging in meaningful dialogue. The session facilitated a deeper understanding of the Act and its broader socio-political context.
Towards the end of the programme, Shri Dilip Kumar Darjee expressed a formal vote of thanks. He acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Resource Person and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and staff, which contributed to the success of the event.
