Department of Geography, Sikkim University The Department was established in 2010. The Department houses a high end GIS laboratory for exposing the students to the art of spatial analysis.

It strives for blending theoretical knowledge with empirical analysis, anchoring itself in strong field based research, especially on Eastern Himalayas. The faculty members are enthusiastic to share their understanding of cryosphere, interactions between environment, society and economy, political geography of North-east India, social-spatial exclusions, urban governance and tourism geography.
