Students and Faculty members of the Department of Rural Development visited the School of Agro and Rural Technology (SART), IIT Guwahati, as part of their practical exposure visit, gaining valuable insights into modern agricultural technologies, food processing, freeze-drying, food testing, and value addition.

The visit provided hands-on exposure to the practical applications of agricultural science and technology, connecting classroom knowledge with real-world practices in agro-rural development.

The Value Added Course on “Value Addition in Fish and Fishery Production” was successfully conducted, with Dr. Swagat Ghosh, Senior Scientist and Head of the Sasya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra (SSKVK), Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Narendrapur, Kolkata, serving as the resource person.

Dr. Ghosh shared insights into the importance of value addition in the fisheries sector, with a focus on improving the quality, shelf life, marketability, and economic value of fish and fishery products. The session was informative and engaging, providing participants with a better understanding of the scope and potential of value-added fishery products.
