It is a matter of great pride and pleasure to share that ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ก, eminent astronomer and Former In-Charge of the Tezpur University Observatory, will deliver a special lecture on โConcept of Timeโ at The Assam Royal Global University to commemorate the New Year of Bharat.
It highlights the beautiful connection between astronomy, seasons, and our traditional New Year celebrations. Our region of Assam, historically known as Pragjyotishpur, has long been associated with deep astronomical knowledge. A shining example is the Navagraha Temple, symbolizing the ancient understanding of celestial bodies and their influence on life.
The timing of this event is especially significant, as it falls close to the Vernal Equinox-a natural balance that marks the transition to spring, symbolizing renewal, harmony, and new beginnings. It is no coincidence that many Indian festivals like Ugadi, Gudi Padwa and Chaitra Navratri are celebrated around this time, rooted in our traditional lunisolar calendar system.
These traditions reflect the brilliance of ancient Indian scholars like Aryabhata and Varahamihira, who aligned human life with cosmic rhythms through precise astronomical observations.
As we celebrate this occasion, let us appreciate the harmony between ancient wisdom and modern science, and inspire curiosity in understanding the universe and our place within it.
Welcome you all to the event:
