Observance of World Hemophilia Day at Silchar Medical College & Hospital.

It was attended by the Principal, Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent, along with doctors from the Pediatrics and Medicine Departments.
Hemophiliacs and their family members from the Barak Valley region were present at the event.

The Hemophilia Society Guwahati Chapter, in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Haematology at GMCH, observed World Hemophilia Day 2026. The main agenda was a multidisciplinary panel discussion on hemophilia, featuring doctors from Clinical Haematology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry, and other departments. The discussion focused on early diagnosis, treatment, comprehensive care, and patient support. This was followed by poster presentations by CRC Guwahati students and a quiz competition on hemophilia to raise awareness.

🌟 Free Inhibitor Screening Camp 🌟
Today, Hemophilia Society Guwahati Chapter, in coordination with the Department of Clinical Hematology GMCH, organised a free Inhibitors Screening Camp. Samples were collected from 26 PWHS/CWHS who came from across Assam and are on factor therapy.

Today, we distributed SOL sponsorship cheques to beneficiaries at an event organized at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital. It was attended by Dr. Devajit Choudhury, Superintendent, GMCH; Dr. Smita Das, Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Hematology, GMCH; and Dr. Damodar Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Hematology, GMCH.
As we are celebrating SOL's 25th anniversary, beneficiaries also expressed their gratitude to SOL through handwritten notes and reverse gratitude cheques.

The Hemophilia Society Guwahati Chapter successfully organized its Annual General Meeting 2025 along with the Hemophilia Awareness Program on 21st December 2025 at Bidyamandir Higher Secondary School, Guwahati.
The program began with member registration, followed by a warm welcome, lamp lighting, and the National Anthem. Our management members addressed the gathering and shared valuable guidance. Important matters such as the accounts, previous AGM report, and formation of the new Executive Committee were discussed and approved.

A Hemophilia Awareness session was conducted to educate members and families. Meritorious students were felicitated for their academic achievements. New member registration and ID card creation were also carried out.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and lunch. The active participation and support of members, guests, and volunteers made the program meaningful and successful.

A Great Day for Hemophilia Care in Assam.

Inj. Emicizumab treatment have started at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) and, for the very first time, at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) — bringing advanced and long-acting treatment to people with Hemophilia in Assam.

Our heartfelt Gratitude to the MyGov Assam, CMO Assam, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam National Health Mission,Assam, and the dedicated Doctors and medical teams at GMCH and SMCH for their continued effort and compassion.

This milestone brings new hope for the Hemophilia community — a step closer to comprehensive and quality care for every person living with bleeding disorders in the state.

An Integrated Centre for Hemoglobinopathies and Hemophilia (ICHH) was inaugurated at Silchar Medical College Hospital by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Parimal Suklabaidya. This project, implemented by the National Health Mission,Assam, marks the third such centre in the state, after those at Guwahati and Dibrugarh Medical Colleges. The Hon’ble MP highlighted the significance of the ICHH and how it will benefit the people of this region.

The event was also graced by Dr. (Prof.) Bhaskar Gupta – Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, Dr. Prithwiraj Bhattacharjee – Vice Principal, Dr. Bikash Sandalya – Superintendent, Dr. Sujit Nath Choudhury – HoD of Paediatrics, Dr. Bhaskar Debnath – Deputy Superintendent and Nodal Officer for ICHH, and Dr. Sanjib Kumar Debnath – Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics and Nodal Officer for ICHH, Officers from NHM Silchar along with medical staff and members of the print and electronic media.

To commemorate the occasion, a booklet on Hemophilia Care was launched by the Hon’ble MP and other dignitaries.

Representatives from the Hemophilia Society Guwahati Chapter, also submitted a letter to the Hon’ble MP, highlighting the challenges, we are facing in hemophilia treatment in Assam and seeking support to address these issues.

The Annual General Meeting along with the Patient Scientific Program was held on 13th November 2024 at Bishnu Nirmala Bhawan, Guwahati. The meeting started with the lighting lamps.The meeting was followed by the speech on Drive Change in Hemophilia & Role of Prophylaxis in Hemophilia by Dr.Damodar Das, Assistant Professor- Clinical Hematology Department, GMCH. Mr. Rakesh Batra – President gave his speech on the problems faced by hemophiliacs and instructed all the hemophiliacs to have patience for the better treatment in future. Mr.Dhanmani Rajbongshi Vice-President Finance gave his speech on the Disability management. Mr.Dhruba Sarma – Executive Member gave his speech on the development of Hemophiliacs to tackle the situation in future and how to work with unity and support in future. Mr. Milan Sinha – Secretary gave his speech on XXIV AGM followed by Government lobbying and the difficulties facing by the hemophiliacs and requested all to have patience and work together for the betterment in future. The session ended with the Group Photos of all participants along with EC Members. The total participants were One Hundred Twenty Pwhs along with their guardians and the EC Members of HSGC and the doctors.
