The students of M.Sc. Aquaculture and M.Sc. Zoology (Fisheries) organized an educational study tour to Gourav Fish Seeds Hatchery, Mohanapur, Bhathat on March 16. The visit was conducted to provide practical exposure to modern aquaculture practices and techniques.
During the visit, students actively participated in demonstrations of induced breeding techniques, where Mr. Veer Gaurav, owner of hatchery and Dr Pankaj Srivastava, faculty explained the use of hormones and breeding management in fish culture. The students also received hands-on training in live feed culture, which is essential for the healthy growth of fish larvae.
The hatchery team further guided the students on ornamental fish farming and breeding, highlighting aquarium maintenance, species selection, and commercial aspects of ornamental fisheries. In addition, practical knowledge regarding aquaculture farm designing and layout was shared, including pond construction, water management, and efficient farm planning.
The study tour proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students, enhancing their practical knowledge and understanding of aquaculture practices. Faculty members accompanying the students appreciated the efforts of the hatchery management for providing valuable insights and hands-on learning experience.

Eight students of the M.Sc. Students of the Department of Aquaculture, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, have brought pride to the university by being selected for a Short-Term Training Programme on “Basic Bioinformatics: Tools and Applications”. The programme will be organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)–National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), Lucknow, from January 5 to January 9, 2026.
The selected students will receive hands-on training in modern bioinformatics tools and techniques, which play a crucial role in fisheries, aquaculture research, genetic analysis, and biodiversity conservation.
