Noida College retain judo titles

The Noida College of Physical Education team, which won the Ch. Charan Singh University Judo Championship.
New Delhi, November 17
Hosts Noida College of Physical Education (NCPE), Noida, retained both the men’s and women’s team titles in the Chaudhry Charan Singh Judo Championship in Meerut. Noida College kept custody of the women’s trophy for the fourth year in succession while the men made it a three-in-a-row title contest.

Noida College men annexed seven gold and logged 35 points. DGC College, Baraut won two silver and two bronze medals to secure the second position on eight points.

Meerut College lifted two silver and one bronze medal to secure third position.

In the women’s section, Noida College won four gold and three silver medals to log 29 points.

MMH College, Ghaziabad, won a gold, a silver and three bronze medals to finish second on 11 points. Meerut College won one gold and one silver medal to emerge third.

In an interesting bout, Viram Sharma of Noida outpointed Ravi Yadav of Meerut in the 56-kg category. Richa Singh of Noida defeated Neetu Gupta of Meerut College through a full point throw (ippon).

Gymnastic coach Rajender Singh Pathania inaugurated the championships.
