Embedded in these efforts is recognition by the MIHER leadership of the need for professional education and research that fosters social commitment and engagement with India’s most vulnerable and underserved populations, while providing a quality infrastructure and support system that will attract the finest healthcare professionals, researchers,educators and help set new standards and benchmarks at a regional and national level. MIHER has therefore crafted a student- centered educational environment allowing them to craft individualized learning pathways to study more deeply issues experienced firsthand, and to arrive at answers germane to the context of the issues and society’s needs. MIHER view its students not merely as recipients of information and knowledge but as scholars by fostering curiosity and supporting the exploration of innovative ways of thinking, including the functioning of the university itself.
