Celebrating World Pharmacists Day 2026

Metro College of Health Sciences & Research, Greater Noida, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sonia Lal and the guidance of Dr. Kanak Lata and Dr. Praveen K. Gaur, celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 on 25th September 2026 under the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.”
The celebration highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare, patient safety, professional ethics, and the rational use of medicines. The event featured a series of engaging activities, including poster presentations, an awareness rally, and interactive awareness sessions, with enthusiastic participation from students.
The Pharmacist Oath Ceremony reaffirmed the commitment of students and faculty members towards ethical practice and patient welfare, while the Prize Distribution Ceremony recognized and appreciated the efforts and achievements of the participants.

The programme successfully promoted professional awareness, community engagement, and a strong sense of responsibility among future pharmacists.

Department of Pharmacy, Metro College of Health Sciences & Research, Greater Noida, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sonia Lal and the continued guidance of Dr. Kanak Lata and Dr. Praveen K. Gaur, marked the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026 with a week-long series of engaging academic, awareness, and community outreach initiatives focused on drug safety, rational medicine use, pharmacovigilance, and public health.

The students actively participated in activities designed to connect classroom learning with real-world healthcare challenges.

Inaugural Activities

The week commenced with poster presentations, impactful Nukkad Nataks, a pharmacovigilance quiz, and case-study analysis of real-world drug safety scenarios based on theme,“Promoting Rational Use of Medicines through Pharmacovigilance: A Step Towards Safer Healthcare.”

World Alzheimer’s Day – 21 September 2026

On 21 September 2026, the events were focused on observing World Alzheimer’s Day. The Students expressed their creativity and awareness through poster competitions, quizzes, and a thought-provoking play highlighting the realities of Alzheimer’s disease. Engaging brain games, including treasure hunts and Sudoku, added an interactive dimension to the celebrations.

Expert Talk – 22 September 2026

On 22 September, an Expert Talk was organised by Mr. Mohd. Asad Tasleem Ansari, Drugs Inspector, Drugs Control Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Drawing upon more than 25 years of experience across pharmaceutical manufacturing, hospital pharmacy, and regulatory enforcement, he discussed drug regulation, pharmacovigilance, patient safety, and career opportunities for pharmacy professionals.

Community Outreach – 23 September 2026

On 23 September, Community Outreach activity was organised. Taking the message of pharmacovigilance beyond the campus, pharmacy students conducted a Jan Jagrukta Rally and Nukkad Natak in a nearby village, creating awareness about the rational use of medicines, responsible antibiotic use, and prevention of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The week also featured an expert talk by Dr. Quamuddin, Professor, MCHSR highlighting the importance of pharmacovigilance in safeguarding public health.

As the celebrations concluded, one message resonated throughout the week:

Pharmacovigilance is more than a professional responsibility—it is a commitment to safer medicines, informed communities, and a healthier future.

Door-to-Door Awareness Drive and Citizen Engagement Initiative

Theme : Awareness regarding Solid Waste Management, Four-Way Source Segregation and Composting

Metro College of Nursing, Greater Noida, U.P. successfully organised a door-to-door awareness drive and citizen engagement Programme on 24th September 2026 through the Community Health Nursing Department at community area,Goyal Colony, Salarpur khadar, Bhangel. The awareness drive was conducted under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta (Managing Director, MCHSR) and the guidance of Dr. Kanak Lata (Director of Education, MCHSR), Dr. Praveen Kr. Gaur (Director Campus), Dr. Prachi Awasthi (Principal), Prof. Muzaffar A. Makrani (Dean Academics), and Prof. Prashant Thakur (Vice Principal). The programme was planned with the objective of promoting active community participation in cleanliness and proper solid waste management. The community residents were sensitized regarding responsible waste disposal, source segregation, composting and the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Programme Activities

A. Door-to-Door Awareness Drive

Nursing students visited households in the selected community area and interacted with residents. The students explained the importance of proper waste management and encouraged families to follow appropriate waste segregation practices. B. Awareness Regarding Source Segregation

The residents were explained that waste should be segregated at the point where it is generated, rather than mixing all waste together and attempting to separate it later. Awareness Regarding Composting

Residents were educated about the benefits of converting suitable biodegradable household waste into compost. Citizen Engagement

The programme focused not only on providing information but also on encouraging active participation of community members. The activity was coordinated by Mr. Toshan, HOD , Department of Community Health Nursing, and Ms. Rashmi Pathak , Assistant Professor, and Ms. Keerti Nursing Tutor , with active participation from the B.Sc. Nursing 5th Semester students. Conclusion

The Jan Bhagidari for Swachhata – Door-to-Door Awareness Drive conducted and provided an effective platform for community education and citizen engagement regarding solid waste management.

Department of Pharmacy, Metro College of Health Sciences & Research, Greater Noida, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, conducted a meaningful community outreach activity on 23rd September 2026 at Village Kadarpur, Sikandrabad, District Bulandshahr, UP, focusing on responsible medication practices and antibiotic awareness.

🩺 Health Awareness Rally

Students engaged with the community to raise awareness about the risks of self-medication, explained the difference between adverse drug reactions and side effects, and encouraged villagers to seek guidance from qualified healthcare professionals before taking medicines.

🎭 Nukkad-Natak: Say No to Antibiotic Misuse

The awareness rally was followed by an impactful Nukkad-Natak, through which students highlighted how the misuse and inappropriate use of antibiotics contributes to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The performance emphasized:

🔹 Avoiding antibiotics for common ailments unless prescribed

🔹 Completing the full antibiotic course when prescribed

🔹 Safe and responsible handling of medicines at home

🔹 Seeking professional medical advice before using medicines

Beyond creating awareness, the initiative provided students with an opportunity to develop community engagement, communication skills, and a sense of social responsibility—reflecting the vital role of pharmacists in promoting public health.

Metro College of Health Sciences and Research (MCHSR) observed World Alzheimer’s Day on 21st September 2026 at the Seminar Hall, MCHSR, with the theme: “The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.”

Held under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, and the guidance of Dr. Kanak Lata, Director–Education, MCHSR, and Dr. Praveen Kumar Gaur, Director–Campus, MCHSR, the program focused on creating awareness about brain health, dementia, early diagnosis, and compassionate care.

The event featured a range of engaging activities:

🌸 Empowering Young Minds Through Health Awareness! 🌸

Metro College of Nursing, Greater Noida successfully organised a School Health Awareness Program on 18 September 2026 at Noida Balika Inter College, Bhangel, through the Department of Community Health Nursing, benefiting around 200+ students in the age group 15-20years.
The program was conducted under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, Managing Director, MCHSR, and the guidance of Dr. Kanak Lata, Director of Education, MCHSR; Dr. Praveen Kr. Gaur, Director Campus; Dr. Prachi Awasthi, Principal; Prof. Muzaffar A. Makrani, Dean Academics; and Prof. Prashant Thakur, Vice Principal.

It was led by B.Sc. Nursing 5th Semester students, who conducted interactive and informative health awareness sessions focusing on key aspects of school and adolescent health.

Key Health Awareness Sessions

1. First Aid and Emergency Management

Awareness regarding basic first aid measures, appropriate immediate responses during common emergencies, and the importance of timely healthcare seeking.

2. Adult Vaccination Awareness

The session highlighted the importance of vaccination across the life course, with particular emphasis on HPV vaccination for prevention of HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer, and Influenza vaccination for prevention of seasonal influenza and its complications. Students were also educated about preventive practices and the importance of seeking advice from qualified healthcare professionals regarding vaccination.

3. Menstrual Hygiene Management

The session focused on maintaining proper menstrual hygiene, adopting safe and healthy practices during menstruation, preventing menstrual-related infections, appropriate disposal of menstrual products, and addressing common myths and misconceptions related to menstruation.

The activity was coordinated by Mr. Toshan, HOD , Department of Community Health Nursing, and Ms. Rashmi Pathak, Assistant Professor, with active participation from the B.Sc. Nursing 5th Semester students.

👏 The programme received appreciation from the Principal of Noida Balika Inter College, who acknowledged the students' efforts and effective delivery of health education.

The nursing students were also appreciated for their effective communication, health demonstrations, community engagement, and active contribution towards enhancing health awareness among school students.
