🌐 ADVANCING EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING | DAY 3

The journey of professional learning and academic excellence continued with Day 3 of the 5-Day National Level Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Programme, successfully organized by the Department of Community Health Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram, in collaboration with Manikaka Topawala Institute of Nursing (MTIN), CHARUSAT University, Gujarat on 19th August, 2026, Wednesday, from 1:30 PM to 4:15 PM on Sub-Theme: “Disease Prevention and Surveillance at the Grassroots”

Day 3 featured three enriching expert-led academic sessions focusing on strengthening the role of community health professionals in disease prevention, early detection, surveillance, and effective community-based healthcare practices.

The first session on the topic of “Community-Based Management of Communicable Diseases,” was delivered by Dr. Hanuman, Community Health Officer, Taj Nagar, Block Farrukhnagar, Gurugram. This was followed by the second informative session on “Screening and Early Detection of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs),” delivered by Mr. Ankit Kumar Christian, Assistant Professor, MTIN–CHARUSAT University, Gujarat. The final enriching session on “Surveillance and Control of Vector-Borne Diseases by Nurses,” was delivered by Ms. Rachna Tanwar, Associate Professor & HOD, Department of Community Health Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram.

✨ Together, the sessions brought practical expertise, evidence-based approaches, and contemporary perspectives, strengthening understanding of disease prevention, surveillance, early detection, and community-based interventions. Bringing together nursing professionals and experts from across India, the CNE fostered knowledge sharing, collaboration, and enhanced competency in community health nursing.

💫 Day 3 concluded on a meaningful note, reinforcing the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth in strengthening the role of nurses in promoting healthier communities.

On 14 August 2026 (Friday) from 1:30 PM – 4:30 Pm under the Sub-Theme of “Evidence-Based Practices in Maternal, Child, and School Health”

Day 2 featured three enriching expert-led academic sessions, creating a meaningful platform for knowledge sharing, professional interaction, and evidence-based learning. The first session, “Empowering ASHAs and ANMs Through Collaborative Community Nursing,” was delivered by Dr. Samta Soni, Assistant Professor, Government College of Nursing, SMS Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur, the second session on the topic of “Strengthening School Health Services Through Community Participation,” delivered by Ms. Mital Sharma, Assistant Professor, MTIN–CHARUSAT University, Gujarat. The final session on “Evidence-Based Practices in Immunization and Cold Chain Management,” was delivered by Ms. Pratiksha Sharma, Nursing Tutor, MTIN–CHARUSAT University, Gujarat.

🌟 With nursing professionals and experts participating from across India, Day 2 fostered a vibrant environment of professional learning, collaboration, knowledge exchange, and competency enhancement.

🌟 5-Days NATIONAL LEVEL CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAMME 🌟
The Department of Community Health Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram, in collaboration with Manikaka Topawala Institute of Nursing (MTIN), CHARUSAT University, Gujarat, successfully conducted Day 1 of the 5-Days National Level Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Programme on 12th August 2026 from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm. The programme is organised under the theme of “Advancing Excellence and Enhancing Competency in Community Health Nursing through Evidence-Based Standards and Organizational Empowerment.”
The Day 1 under the sub-theme, “Foundations of Community Health Nursing and Public Health Systems,” set the academic tone for the programme. The inaugural day commenced with a warm Welcome Address and Introduction to the Online CNE Programme, followed by three expert-led academic sessions that enriched participants’ understanding of core community health nursing concepts.
The first session on “Role of Community Health Nurse in Achieving Universal Health Coverage” was delivered by Dr. Shashidhara YN, Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, Karnataka. The second session on “Health Education Strategies for Behaviour Change in Communities” was conducted by Dr. Kamlesh, Professor-cum-Principal, Institute of Nursing Education and Research, AIIMS Bathinda, Punjab. The third session on “Role of Community Nurse in Maternal and Child Health Programmes” was delivered by Dr. Nutan Kumari, Associate Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram.
The day witnessed national academic participation, bringing together distinguished resource persons from reputed institutions and universities across India, thereby creating a rich platform for sharing diverse perspectives, professional experiences and evidence-based community health nursing practices.
The successful commencement of Day 1 reflects the collaborative efforts of both the organizing team from School of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram and MTIN, CHARUSAT University, Gujarat towards strengthening professional competency, promoting evidence-based community nursing practice and advancing excellence in nursing education.

Day 4 - Quiz Competition – World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2026

A Quiz Competition was organized on 6th August 2026 as part of the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2026 under the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.” The event was organized by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing, Child Health Nursing, and Dashmesh College of Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University at D Block.

The competition covered topics related to breastfeeding, maternal and newborn nutrition, lactation management, myths and facts, and evidence-based nursing practices through MCQs, rapid-fire, image-based, and case-based rounds. Students from various nursing programmes participated enthusiastically, demonstrating excellent knowledge and teamwork.

The programme concluded with the announcement of winners and the distribution of certificates and prizes, reinforcing the importance of breastfeeding awareness and evidence-based maternal and child healthcare.

Day 3 of World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2026

As part of the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2026 (3rd–8th August 2026), the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing, Department of Child Health Nursing, and Dashmesh College of Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University, in collaboration with the National Reference Simulation Centre (NRSC), organized a Community Outreach Program at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Daulatabad, Gurugram, on 5th August 2026.

The program aimed to promote awareness and strengthen knowledge regarding optimal breastfeeding practices among mothers and caregivers through interactive activities.

The outreach program featured:
- Role Play highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding, common myths and facts, and the importance of colostrum as a baby's first natural immunization.

- Health Education focusing on the significance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and addressing common misconceptions.

- Demonstrations on:
• Correct breastfeeding attachment and latching techniques
• Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC)
• Appropriate breastfeeding positions

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from mothers, caregivers, and healthcare professionals at the PHC.

Together, let's support breastfeeding and build a healthier future for mothers and babies.

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing, Chid Health Nursing and Dashmesh College of Nursing, School of Nursing, SGT University organized an Expert Talk on Day 2 of World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2026 under the Theme “Breastfeeding for a sustainable for start in life: Strengthen what works” at C, Block Auditorium on 4th August 2026.
The session was delivered by Ms. Deepti Arora, CEO of Deliver Delights and a Postpartum Care Consultant. She delivered an insightful talk emphasizing the significance of fostering a supportive environment to promote and sustain successful breastfeeding practices. Her session focused on practical approaches, evidence-based advantages of breastfeeding, and the shared responsibility of families, healthcare professionals, and the community in encouraging and supporting breastfeeding.
As part of the programme, a Prize Distribution Ceremony was organized to felicitate the winners of the Poster and Rangoli Competitions held on Day 1. The appreciation of the students’ creativity and awareness-building efforts brought enthusiasm and colour to the celebration. The programme concluded with an interactive exchange of ideas, recognition of students’ achievements, and a renewed commitment to strengthening awareness and support for breastfeeding within the community.

🌸 World Breastfeeding Week 2026 Celebration 🌸

The World Breastfeeding Week 2026 Celebration is being organized by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological (OBG) Nursing, in collaboration with the Department of Child Health Nursing, Dashmesh College of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram, as a week-long celebration from 03 August 2026 to 08 August 2026.

The event is being conducted under the global theme:

"Breastfeeding for a sustainable start in life: strengthen what works"

The celebration commenced on 03 August 2026 with Poster-Making and Rangoli Competitions to raise awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and the need for sustainable support systems for mothers and infants.

Students enthusiastically participated in both competitions, showcasing creative posters and vibrant rangoli designs highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and this year's theme.

The week-long celebration will continue until 08 August 2026 with academic and awareness activities promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding. School of Nursing, SGT University, remains committed to advancing maternal and child health through education, awareness, and community outreach.
