In a landmark step towards building a more equitable and inclusive society, the Faculty of Education's Department of Special Education at SGT University, Gurugram, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sri Aurobindo Society, New Delhi, on April 27, 2026.

The MOU Signing Ceremony, organised under the aegis of the Centre for Disability Studies, SGTU, brought together academicians, disability-rights advocates, and education professionals in a spirit of shared purpose. The event was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Room No. 205, Rabindranath Tagore Block (A-Block), SGT University, Gurugram.

Sri Aurobindo Society through its flagship initiative Rupantar: Transforming Education is widely recognised for reimagining learning environments for children with diverse needs. This partnership with SGTU's Department of Special Education promises to synergise academic rigour with on-ground transformative practice, creating pathways for learners who have long been at the margins of mainstream education.

"This MOU is not merely a document, it is a commitment. A commitment to walk alongside every learner, regardless of their ability, and ensure that education becomes a space of empowerment and dignity for all."

Key Objectives of the MOU:

Collaborative research and training in Special Education and disability studies
Joint development of inclusive curricula, tools, and resource materials
Field exposure and internship opportunities for SGTU students with Sri Aurobindo Society programmes
Organising workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on inclusive education
Advocacy for policy-level change in disability-inclusive educational frameworks

SGTU, accredited NAAC A+, reaffirms its position as an institution committed not only to academic excellence but to social responsibility. The Centre for Disability Studies has been a torchbearer in mainstreaming disability discourse within higher education in the NCR region.

Event Title: Global Innovation in Inclusive Education: Neuropsychology & Rapid Trauma Resolution: Autism & ADHD Speaker: Dr. Kalyani Gopal, PhD, Psychologist, PhD, HSPP, FACAPP

Date: April 2, 2026 Venue: Vikram Sarabhai Block, SGT University, Gurugram

Executive Summary:

On April 2, 2026, the Faculty of Education and the Department of Special Education, under the aegis of the Centre for Disability Study (SGTU), hosted a transformative guest lecture featuring the internationally acclaimed psychologist Dr. Kalyani Gopal. The event served as a high-level academic forum exploring the intersection of neurobiology, trauma recovery, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
The lecture successfully bridged the gap between theoretical neuropsychology and practical, rapid-response interventions for neurodivergent individuals, specifically those navigating the complexities of Autism and ADHD.

Event Highlights & Narrative

1. A Deep Dive into Neuropsychology

Dr. Gopal captivated the audience with a profound exploration of how trauma impacts the developing brain, particularly in children with Autism and ADHD. She emphasized that "inclusive education" is not merely a classroom setting but a neuro-biological approach that requires understanding the "why" behind behavioral expressions.

2. Rapid Trauma Resolution (RTR)

A significant portion of the discourse was dedicated to the innovative techniques of Rapid Trauma Resolution. Dr. Gopal demonstrated how specialized psychological interventions can mitigate the long-term effects of trauma, allowing students to access their full cognitive potential and thrive in mainstream educational environments.

3. An Interdisciplinary Assembly

The lecture hall was a testament to the power of collaborative learning. The session saw active participation from:
• Special Education Students: Who gained insights into adapting curricula for trauma-impacted neurodivergent learners.
• Psychology Students: Who delved into the clinical nuances of neuropsychological assessments and therapeutic modalities.
• Speech-Language Therapy (SLT) Students: Who explored the vital link between emotional regulation, trauma, and communication development.

Engagement & Impact

The Q&A session fostered a rigorous intellectual exchange. Students from the three core disciplines engaged in a multidisciplinary dialogue, questioning how these "global innovations" could be localized within the Indian educational framework.

"The integration of neuropsychological insights into classroom management is no longer an elective; it is a necessity for true inclusion." — Key takeaway from the concluding remarks.
