What does leadership look like in an AI driven world?

On 24 September, SOIL’s Consortium Partners and Academic Advisory Board gathered at our Manesar campus to discuss the future of management education. From the role of AI to the enduring importance of human judgment and critical thinking, the conversations focused on what students need to thrive in a changing workplace.

Our partners also spent time with students, sharing insights from their own leadership journeys and the industries they help shape.

Thank you to Som Mittal, Ramesh Mitragotri, Ishan Raina, Rajeev Dubey, Vinay Menon, Pratik Kumar, Santosh Desai, Pushp Kumar Nayar, Rohit Thakur, Prof. Shuchi Sinha Tandon, Swati Jain and Neha Sharma for making these conversations possible.

India’s growth story will be driven not only by technology, but also by manufacturing, mobility and the core sectors that power the economy.

As these industries evolve, experienced professionals must reskill - not necessarily to change sectors, but to lead within them differently.

Chhatraveer Singh Gaur’s journey from Market Research Analyst to Europe Head at Tillers Tractors Ltd. reflects this potential. After completing SOIL’s one-year PGPM, he progressed through leadership roles across sales, off-highway tyres and international business.

The context of business has changed considerably since then - and the SOIL PGPM has evolved with it.

Its focus on self-leadership, values, whole-systems thinking and responsible management remains integral. At the same time, the programme has added greater thrust to areas such as:

• Artificial Intelligence and analytics

• Technology-enabled decision-making

• Design thinking and innovation

• Consulting and structured problem-solving

• Live industry projects and applied learning

Because the future belongs to leaders who can combine industry experience with contemporary management capabilities.

Days 3 and 4 concluded the AI-focused Academia–Industry Week for SOIL’s PGPM cohort - bringing together the creative, technological and human dimensions of an AI-driven business world.

Day 3 explored how AI is transforming creativity and marketing: from the way ideas are generated and products are designed to how brands engage with audiences.

Day 4 turned to the people side of business strategy, examining the evolving CHRO mandate, the redesign of jobs and organisational structures, and the real-world trade-offs surrounding AI adoption, restructuring and return-to-office.

Senior leaders from Philips, Blinkit, Accenture, Rage Coffee, WION, SAP, Ericsson, Yamaha Motor Solutions India, AlonOS, Grip, Orange Business and University Living joined the week, bringing diverse industry perspectives and practical insights into the classroom.

A fitting conclusion to a week that enabled our students to engage with the opportunities, complexities and leadership decisions shaping the future of business.

Every institution is built on an idea. The Inspired Leader explores the idea behind SOIL Institute of Management: leadership begins with the work you do on yourself.

Written by our founder, Anil Sachdev, the book draws on forty years of working alongside people who built India’s institutions. It explores seven practices: understanding the story you tell yourself, recognising your gifts, continuing to learn, thinking clearly under pressure, building trust, acting with courage and pursuing a purpose worth pursuing.

These practices shape how SOIL teaches, selects and prepares its students.

The book has taken us across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune for conversations with leaders including N. R. Narayana Murthy, Harsh Mariwala, Nitin Paranjpe and Rekha Menon.

Leadership does not begin with a title. It begins with you.

The Inspired Leader by Anil Sachdev is published by Penguin Random House India.

Two days. Two critical business disciplines. One immersive learning experience.

Academia–Industry Week 2026 at the SOIL Institute of Management began by bringing industry insight directly into the classroom.

📊 Day 1: From Data to Decisions – The Business of Analytics

Day 1 opened with leaders from the analytics space, each bringing a distinct perspective on the discipline.

From numbers that move businesses to decision intelligence, from the analyst’s craft to the responsible governance of AI—the conversations demonstrated how analytics is shaping modern business strategy.

💼 Day 2: From Numbers to Decisions – The Business of Finance

CA Ashish Dua, Founder, Dua Desk; Nipun Sahni, Chairman, Bynd; and Shubham Jain, Senior Director, WTW, explored how AI, data and technology are transforming financial strategy and decision-making.

The classroom was then converted into a boardroom.

Students were presented with real-world business crises and asked to step into the roles of a CFO and the management team. They analysed financial implications, balanced risks with business priorities, developed strategic recommendations and defended their decisions before the panel.

There was no single right answer - only choices that demanded financial acumen, critical thinking, business judgement and strategic clarity.

A strong start to a week built on industry insight, experiential learning and the application of knowledge to real business decisions.

For Jisna, it wasn’t just about adding another experience to her résumé - it was about learning by doing, adapting quickly and taking valuable insights back to the classroom.

As India marked 79 years of Independence, The Times of India brought together young voices to reflect on a simple but important question: where does India stand today?

Representing SOIL in the conversation were Dhairya Gupta, former President of the Student Council, and Siddhant Turlapati.

Both brought thoughtful perspectives to the discussion - on how India’s progress needs to be understood in its own context, on the trade-offs every country navigates, and on the distance we have travelled while recognising what still remains to be done.

For Dhairya, India is a global superpower in the making - not there yet, but moving in that direction.

Proud to see our students contribute to a conversation that called for reflection, perspective and conviction.

Well done, Dhairya and Siddhant.

What happens when the classroom steps into the workplace?

For Experiential Friday, our PGPM students took The Workforce Lens beyond campus - stepping into workplaces across sectors to observe how organisations really function.

From motivation, leadership and culture to communication, decision-making and the informal dynamics that rarely show up on an org chart, students listened, questioned and learned from people across roles.

And then came the bigger question:

What will this workplace look like in 2036?

What changes? What disappears? What will AI redefine? And which skills will matter most?

Because some lessons are best understood not from a slide — but by stepping into the world they are meant to explain.

This is Experiential Learning at SOIL.
