Sales matter. But in luxury, sales are only one part of the job. A strong brand manager is also responsible for protecting positioning, preserving desirability, and making sure the brand remains relevant without becoming ordinary.
That means thinking beyond the immediate transaction. A discount may drive a quick sale, but it can also weaken perception. A campaign may bring attention, but if it does not align with the brand’s identity, it can create confusion. Even the way a client is handled can influence whether the brand feels premium or merely expensive.
This is why luxury brand management is closer to strategy than selling. The best professionals understand that the real task is not only to move product, but to protect what makes the product worth wanting in the first place.
