On the special occasion of World Social Work Day, 19th March 2024 with the theme- ‘Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change’; the Department of Social Work started the event with a cleanliness drive and plantation in the early hours. Esteemed personalities from various fields were invited to take part in this enlightening occasion. The distinguished guests included Papori Banikya, the state Coordinator of IGSSS; Mr. Bhrigu Borthakur, President of CareU365; and Dr. Murad Zaman from BBCI. Students also expressed gratitude and appreciation to all the Social Workers in the world, who contribute unwavering commitment to serve by performing a street play. After the street play, art and craft and food stalls were installed for the fund collection. At this beautiful event, a musical jam with a donation drive was also held.

8th March, Women's Day:

Pad distribution at the slum area near GMCH hostel number 4 accompanied by the English department and Social Work accompanied by faculty members Department of Social Work, Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya , English and Juridical Studies dept. After pad distribution, the students of both English and Social Work performed a street play by portraying awareness towards women empowerment and gender equality. Students also installed art, craft and food stalls for fund collection for the department.

Ms. Dixita Newar and Ms. Sistrileena Saikia, MSW 3rd semester were appointed for National Female Blind Cricket Tournament 2024 as team coordinator. This tournament was organised in Hubli , Karnataka . Several teams came from different states of the country . The cricket tournament was started from 8th January to 12th January . The team coordinators mainly managed the whole journey as per the senior's instructions like player's practice, their accommodation , uniforms , photographs , players safety etc.

Both the students are currently doing their block field work under Care U 365, an organisation of both state and national repute.
