At the outset, we would like to convey our sincere regards to you. It is with deep regret that we wish to inform you that our blessed father, (Prof) Dr. Nanda Ram Das, left for the heavenly abode on 8 February, 2022. He served with great distinction as Professor of Mathematics in Gauhati University till the time of his superannuation, and was instrumental in popularising and propagating mathematics among his students with immense zeal and commitment. He also rendered selfless, unstinting service towards the welfare of the society and community. Hence, to honour the memory of his passing as well as keeping his legacy alive, we are planning to publish a commemorative volume, which will highlight his many achievements - as an erudite scholar, sincere academic, committed social worker, among many other facets. We wish the day of release of the commemorative volume to coincide with the date of his Aadya Shraddha - the first death anniversary - to be observed on 29 January 2023, and we are working hard to ensure that we succeed in this effort. Therefore, considering the long association and deep bond you had with our beloved father, we would be very much honoured to receive a write-up from you. You may focus on his professional, personal, social engagements etc., personal reminiscences of some sort, or whatever you might find memorable. We would be much thankful if you can submit the write-up by October 2, 2022. We earnestly hope that your contribution to this volume will go a long way in keeping alive the memory of our dear departed father forever in our and everyone's hearts.
