We the doctors and students of Regional dental college , guwahati today had a peaceful protest against the statement made by Mrs. Angoorlata Deka at a Press meet on 16-09-2021 . We strongly condemn such derogatory remark against our profession. Nobody can defame such a selfless and respectful profession and not be accountable. This brings a lot of risk on us as doctors and such remarks act as hindrance during treating a patient on many levels . We request the general public to not pay heed to such nuisance statements .We demand credible evidence from Mrs. Deka supporting her claim or an unconditional apology to the entire Fraternity.

We all Dental Surgeons and Medical practitioners are disappointed and incensed at the witless comment passed by actress and former MLA Mrs. Angurlata Deka. During an interview with a news channel on creating awareness about sexual and gender based violence against women, she made an offensive and really disheartening comment in a very offhand manner on the Dental fraternity as a whole and addressed the whole matter in an inappropriate way. The matter should have been addressed at a personal level with appropriate evidence rather than dragging and questioning the honesty, integrity and dignity of the entire Profession. When someone is given a platform to express, it is expected of them to be aware and well informed, and if not, then he/she should be held accountable for the same. We think this matter could have been addressed and put in different ways but she chose to bring this particular profession down by making such a derogatory comment.

*We condemn this act by Mrs. Deka and demand a proper public apology to the whole fraternity in this case.

We, the RDCians strongly condemn the recent brutal attacks upon doctors on duty in West Bengal. Unfortunately, such inhuman behaviours to health care providers have become a common practice throughout the country which has been worrying the health care professionals in delivering their dedicated services to the people of the nation with a fear-free mind. We,the doctors of Regional Dental College, Guwahati hereby extended our support to the ongoing protests by abstaining from all clinical practices except for emergencies on 17th june 2019.
