NLUJAA promotes and makes available modern

legal education and research facilities to students and scholars drawn from across the country, including the North East, hailing from different socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

The DPIIT-IPR Chair, Centre for Research on Intellectual Property Rights Law, Centre for Advanced Research on Corporate Law, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam jointly organised an Advanced Workshop on Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship on October 28, 2025.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Snigdha Majumder, Founder and CEO of Trendshift Consulting, and currently engaged as a Mentor for the CBDE Mission under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Dr. Majumder’s session provided deep insights into Design Thinking, Empathy Mapping, Career Pathways in Legal Innovation, and the Redesigning of the Legal Ecosystem through Prototyping, Testing, and Iteration. She underscored that today’s legal ecosystem demands:

Empathy – understanding human stories,
Systems Thinking – reforming institutional processes, and
Innovation – bridging gaps between law, technology, and society.

Her session was highly interactive and engaging. Students actively participated in hands-on activities such as creating an Empathy Map and undertaking a Challenge to list eight innovative ideas within five minutes, encouraging creative thinking.

The workshop inspired participants to adopt a forward-thinking and user-centric approach to legal practice, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJA), Assam, held its Third Convocation Ceremony at Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium in Guwahati, graced by Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Hon’ble Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court and Chancellor, NLUJAA. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Hon’ble Supreme Court Judges, Hon’ble Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Hon’ble Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, attended as Special Guests. The dignitaries commended the graduating students for their achievements and urged them to uphold justice, integrity, and service to society. Prof. K. V. S. Sarma, Vice-Chancellor, highlighted academic and research milestones of the University.
