Snapshots from the distribution ceremony of application forms to Higher Secondary students under the Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Aasoni at Cotton University today.

The application forms were handed over by the Registrar, Dr. Hiren Deka, along with the Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr. Gunendra Chandra Das, Head of the Department of Education, Dr. Phunu Das Sarma, and other university officials.

Cotton University today hosted the live telecast of the Government of Assam’s programme for the Release of Financial Assistance to Flood-Affected Students for the Purchase of Study Materials and the Distribution of Application Forms under the Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Aasoni and Nijut Babu Aasoni.

Following the live telecast, application forms were handed over to a few students of Cotton University by Registrar, Dr. Hiren Deka, in the presence of Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr. Gunendra Ch. Das, HoD, Dept of Education, Dr. Phunu Das Sarma, and other members of the faculty and staff.

The distribution drive began today and will continue from tomorrow to ensure that all eligible students receive their application forms.

In a significant step towards strengthening Indo-Japanese academic and scientific collaboration, Cotton University and Kagawa University, Japan, signed a comprehensive Academic Exchange Agreement today at the President's Office, Administration Building, Saiwai-cho Campus, Kagawa University.

This agreement marks the beginning of a five-year collaboration in education, research, student and faculty exchange, and academic innovation.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Cotton University and Prof. Natsuo Ueda, President, Kagawa University, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing knowledge through international cooperation.

Cotton University and Aaranyak signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to foster collaboration in academic and research initiatives focusing on biodiversity conservation, climate change, environmental governance, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.

The five-year partnership will promote joint research, student internships, faculty and researcher exchange, capacity-building programmes, collaborative publications, and knowledge-sharing through seminars and workshops.

The MoU was signed by Dr Hiren Deka, Registrar, Cotton University, and Dr Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, Secretary General, Aaranyak, in the presence of Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Cotton University.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Santanu Sarma, Dean, Research & Development; Prof. Eeshan Kalita, Dean, Students’ Welfare; Dr Narayan Sharma, Department of Environmental Biology and Wildlife Sciences, along with Dr Partha Jyoti Das and Mr Udayan Barthakur from Aaranyak.

A few glimpses from the inaugural celebration marking the journey towards the Centenary Year (2027) of the Department of Botany, Cotton University.

The programme was graced by Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, as the Chief Guest and Centenary Inaugural Speaker. The occasion was also honoured by the presence of Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Cotton University, Dr Jaideep Baruah, Director, ASTEC, along with distinguished alumni, faculty members, students, and well-wishers who came together to celebrate the department’s remarkable legacy.

Established in 1927, the Department of Botany has been a pioneer institution in the field of plant sciences in Northeast India. As it embarks on its centenary journey, the celebration reflected on a century of academic excellence while reaffirming its commitment to advancing research, innovation, and environmental stewardship.

Snapshots from the three-day National Seminar on “From Tradition to Transformation: Integrating Bharatiya Itihas and Bharatiya Jñāna Paramparā in Modern Governance”, jointly organized by Cotton University, North Lakhimpur University, North Eastern Hill University and Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Assam.

Bringing three days of enriching academic deliberations to a fitting close, the valedictory session was graced by Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, and Shri Biswajit Daimary, Hon’ble Minister for Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture, Sports & Youth Welfare, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith & Culture, Government of Assam.
