The Cotton University Chemical Society, organized the Dr. Pannalal Goswami Endowed Lecture Series 2026 on 24th September, 2026. The event started with an enchanting saraswati vandana performed by a student, followed by welcome address delivered by the Head, Department of Chemistry, Cotton University, Prof. Manjit K. Bhattacharyya.
As part of the programme, Dr. Binoy Kumar Saikia, Scientist-F, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, delivered an insightful lecture on “Carbon to Materials: How Materials Science Can Contribute to Carbon Resource Valorization and Climate Action” for undergraduate students, postgraduate students and research scholars of the Department of Chemistry. The students and research scholars were highly motivated and enriched by his thought-provoking presentation.
The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of the Departmental Wall Magazine “Clarion” and the Departmental Magazine “Molecule”. In addition, the prize distribution ceremony for the recipients of this year’s INSPIRE award, that is awarded to the semester toppers and NET, GATE or JAM qualified students by a group of former students of the department, was also held during the occasion.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Cotton University's Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ramesh Ch. Deka, and Registrar, Dr. Hiren Deka. They were joined by distinguished retired faculty members of the erstwhile Cotton College Dr. Pannalal Goswami and Dr. Nandita Bhattacharya Goswami along with the current faculty members of the Department of Chemistry. Vote of thanks presented by the secretary, Cotton University Chemical Society, Dr. Kamal Krishna Rajbongshi, marked the conclusion of the event.
