National Power Training Institute, North Eastern Region has been set up by the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India in the year 2003 at its temporary institute building at ASEB Complex, Narengi, Guwahati-26. At the beginning NPTI-NER conducted induction level training programs for ASEB Jr. In the month of August 2008, NPTI-NER started 1st batch of 52-weeks PGDC and 26-week course on “Operation & Maintenance of Transmission & Distribution Systems” w.e.f. Nov’09 at its old station i.e. Narengi Campus.NPTI-NER has shifted its establishment on 1st July 2009 and started in full swing at its own campus at Kahilipara comprising 16 acres of land, which is 10 Kms., from Guwahati Railway Station and 30 Kms., from G.B. International Air Port, Guwahati.NPTI (North Eastern Region) Guwahati plays an important role in the field of HRD in the Power Sector as an pioneer Institute in the North Eastern Region and NPTI-NER has trained many Power Sector personnel in technical and managerial skill development programs including various professional and academic courses.
