A creative talk on “Mass Communication in an AI-Driven Post-Truth Society”, was organized on the 6th of April, 2026, by the Royal School of Communication and Media in collaboration with the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Creativity, The Assam Royal Global University. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Chair, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Creativity, whose insights brought lenses closer and clearer to the subject. The talk was held as a part of a distinguished lecture series ‘Creative Talks’. Prof. P. J. Baruah, Dean, RSCOM gave the welcome address while sharing some of his life experiences.

A significant portion of the talk was dedicated to explaining the concept of a “post-truth” society—where emotional appeal often outweighs factual accuracy— and its prevalence in contemporary media. He particularly noted the growing preference of the masses towards ‘comfortable lies’ rather than facts.

The lecture concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where Professor Choudhury, addressed queries from students. Ms. Sharmista Pradhan, Coordinator, RSCOM, delivered the Vote of Thanks. The creative talk was enlightening and impactful which significantly enhanced the students’ understanding of mass communication in the age of artificial intelligence.
