The Centre for Legal Studies of Girijananda Chowdhury University today organized a lecture as a part of the SIP program titled "Legal Education - Prospects and Challenges in Contemporary Era" at the Moot Court Hall of the University campus. The resource person was Dr. Malabika Talukdar, Principal of J.B. Law College. Dr. Niju Moni Das, Associate Professor, Dean in Charge and HOD of the Centre for Legal Studies has extended her welcoming speech and asked the students to learn all the nuances about modern legal education.
The Resource Person emphasized that legal education enlightens the students about the justice system of India, urging the students to build conceptual clarity through textbooks rather than completely relying solely on AI. Highlighting the need to adapt to India's new criminal legal regime, she advocated for clinical legal education, moot court training, interdisciplinary learning, and community outreach.
Addressing key challenges, Dr. Talukdar further
pointed out that the students must focus of enhancing their abilities and skills rather than focusing on the social media. Distractions hinders the deep research legal education and erodes professional ethics. She further pointed out about the digital transformation of legal education and the gap between legal theory and practice. Finally she stated that all the legal learners should value the Morals and Ethics so that they can remain at the Rights and Just path of Justice.
