The Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and IPR was successfully conducted from 11th May, 2026 to 15th May, 2026 organized by the department of Computer Science & Engineering (Accredited by NBA TIER-1) in association with IQAC Haldia Institute of Technology (NAAC Accredited Grade-A Institute) in West Bengal.
This FDP has been organized with the objective of enhancing knowledge, sharing innovative ideas, and promoting academic and professional growth. Over the next one week, we are confident that the sessions, discussions, and interactions will provide valuable learning experiences for all participants.

We hope this FDP becomes a platform for inspiration, collaboration, and skill enhancement. Let us make the best use of this opportunity to learn, exchange ideas, and grow together.

Java Xcelerate, an insightful technical workshop, was organised by the Computer Society of India, Haldia Institute of Technology, Student Branch on 9th and 10th May 2026 at the CSE Department. It was designed to strengthen participants’ programming fundamentals by combining conceptual learning with practical problem-solving sessions.

Day 1 of the workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of Java, including data types, operators, and basic coding concepts. The session was followed by hands-on practice questions covering loops, switch cases, and functions, allowing students to apply their understanding through coding exercises and guided learning activities.

On Day 2, the workshop was graced by Prof. Dr. PINAKI PRATIM ACHARJYA (HOD, CSE) along with MR. SUBHABRATA BARMAN(Assistant Professor, CSE). The HOD addressed the participants and motivated them to continue building consistency in programming and technical skill development. The day also included a review session of Day 1 concepts, followed by an engaging quiz competition based on prerequisite topics.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology successfully organized the inauguration ceremony of its Wall Magazine Club, KIRTI, and Photography Club, PHOTOCEPTION, along with the unveiling of the departmental magazine HASHDEFINE, on 15th May 2026 at 3:30 PM. The event was graced by the Honourable Chief Guest Mr. Sayantan Seth, Vice Chairman, HIT, graced the event along with Dr. Anjan Mishra, Registrar General, HIT, Prof. (Dr.) Tarun Kanti Jana, Principal, HIT, Prof. (Dr.) Subhankar Joardar, Dean (SCEI), HIT; Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Dey, Dean (Engineering) and Coordinator, IQAC, HIT and Prof. (Dr.) Pinaki Pratim Acharjya, Head of the CSE Department.
The Wall Magazine Club was themed AI for Daily Life, while the Photography Club explored the theme Glitch: An Unexpected Moment. The departmental magazine HASHDEFINE centred around Artificial Intelligence, presenting diverse perspectives on its hype, realities, opportunities, and challenges. Richly illustrated with graphics, photographs, travelogues, and creative student contributions extending beyond conventional technical discussions, the magazine also highlighted various departmental achievements, events, and activities. Collectively, these initiatives reflected the creativity, innovation, and immense potential of the students of the department.
The event was successfully organized by faculty coordinators Mrs. Angana Chakraborty (Assistant Professor, CSE), Mrs. Rajrupa Metia (Assistant Professor, CSE), and Mrs. Jheelam Mondal (Assistant Professor, CSE), whose dedicated efforts made the occasion engaging, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone present.

The Photography Competition based on the theme “Hidden Patterns: Data Science in Everyday Life” took place on 12th may 2026 , highlighted the beauty and meaningful patterns present in nature and daily surroundings. Participants captured photographs of clouds, rivers, flowers, animals, lights, and landscapes, reflecting symmetry, repetition, balance, and movement found naturally in the world. The event encouraged students to connect creativity with analytical thinking and to observe how hidden patterns exist everywhere around us, much like Data Science uncovers meaningful insights from complex data.The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, and the best photographs were awarded for their creativity, observation, and interpretation of the theme. BISHAL RUIDAS (25/IT/075) secured the 1st Prize, NEERAJ SAHU (24/CSE-DS/060) secured the 2nd Prize, and SUBHAJIT GHOSH (24/CSE-DS/118) secured the 3rd Prize.On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Shubhankar Joardar (Dean, SECI and HOD, CSE) emphasised the importance of such photography competitions and the effective utilisation of academic opportunities for the holistic development of students. The Cine Club, Department of Biotechnology, Haldia Institute of Technology, WB, organized a special screening of the animated film RATATOUILLE on May 7, 2026, for the students, faculty and staff members. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and created a lively atmosphere filled with laughter, discussion, and appreciation for the film’s inspiring message. The movie beautifully highlighted themes of passion, creativity, perseverance, and the idea that talent can arise from anywhere. The students, as well as the faculty and staff members, thoroughly enjoyed the engaging storyline, memorable characters, and stunning animation. The screening also encouraged conversations about pursuing one’s dreams and breaking stereotypes.
