“Deep Learning Based Scientific Document Summarization”
The research work was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Dharmendra Prasad Mahato, Supervisor, and Dr. Jyoti Srivastava, Co-Supervisor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Hamirpur.
The research focuses on the application of Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques for scientific document summarization, aiming to develop effective and intelligent approaches for generating concise, meaningful, and informative summaries of scientific documents.
The Ph.D. Viva-Voce Examination was conducted in the presence of the External Examiner, Prof. Kiran Kumar Pattanaik, ABV-IIITM Gwalior, along with the Supervisor and Co-Supervisor.

Ph.D. Thesis Oral Viva Successfully Completed

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Hamirpur is pleased to share that Mr. Vikas kashtriya successfully presented his Ph.D. Thesis Oral Viva on his research work titled:
“Extraction of Social Determinants of Health from Medical Text for Early Disease Risk Assessment”

The research was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Pardeep Singh, Associate Professor and Head, DoCSE, NIT Hamirpur.

The oral viva was conducted in the presence of Dr. Ritu Garg, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Engineering, NIT Kurukshetra, who served as the External Expert.

The research work explores the application of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing in Healthcare, with a focus on extracting Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) from medical text for early disease risk assessment.

Dr. Pardeep Singh joined the Department in 2006 and has been serving as an Associate Professor. With his long-standing association with the Department and valuable academic and administrative experience, we look forward to his leadership and guidance in taking the Department forward.

We also express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Siddhartha Chauhan, who has successfully completed his two-year tenure as Head of the Department, for his dedicated leadership, guidance, and valuable contributions during his tenure. His efforts have contributed to the continued growth and development of the Department.
