A pioneer of the Indian industry, Mr S. Kirloskar was a visionary who possessed the drive and determination to accomplish his vision. The emergence and subsequent success of the Kirloskar Group of Companies in the engineering industry in India marked the realization of one of his visions. KIM dedicated itself to the task of Management Development in the Kirloskar Group and other companies by understanding the need to promote managerial and organizational excellence. In 1998, KIM ventured into training bright, young minds in high-quality management education to meet the managerial leadership needs of the country. This was offered as a two-year fully residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Harihar. Encouraged by the success of its alumni in the industry, KIM opened its second campus in Pune in 2010. Both campuses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

From classroom to boardroom.

As part of their live project with Apgama Technologies & Services, our students moved beyond textbooks to work on a real business problem, and presented their findings and recommendations directly to the company.

It's one thing to learn management theory. It's another to apply it, defend it, and present it to people who actually run a business.

This is what hands-on, industry-connected learning looks like at our campus.

As part of the ‘This Is Us’ activity, our first-year students brought their dreams, passions, aspirations and personalities to life through individual murals. Every artwork told a unique story and every presentation offered a glimpse into the people who will shape the future.

Because at Kirloskar Institute of Management, we believe that every great journey begins with knowing who you are.

We welcomed Ms. Kiran Punjabi, Senior HRBP, British Petroleum, to talk to our students on the changing nature of work, evolving technology and AI, and their impact on leadership. She spoke on emerging leadership capabilities, the importance of psychological safety, adaptability and collaboration, and how leaders can build workplaces that help people perform and grow.

The session helped our students connect contemporary workplace changes with the evolving role of leadership, and understand how technology and shifting workforce trends are giving rise to new roles and ways of working.

As part of our exposure to emerging manufacturing technologies, we visited the Centre for Industry 4.0 (C4i4) Lab in Pune, a national initiative under the Ministry of Heavy Industries' SAMARTH Udyog Bharat 4.0 programme.

The lab takes a hands-on approach to building awareness of the industrial revolution among Indian manufacturers. At its centre is a Model Factory, where visitors step into real operational roles. Our students got to experience this themselves.

The visit gave us a rare chance to see concepts like automation, IoT enabled, data-driven decision-making, and smart manufacturing at work in a real environment. This reinforced the connection between academic learning and industry practice for our future-ready business leaders.

This year, we were proud to host conscious events inspired by the Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival.

We designed three campus activities rooted in the theme of environmental stewardship. Students chose between two mandatory, team based challenges, Plant a Pitch, where teams pitched a business case around a randomly assigned plant, and the Green Packaging Design Competition, where teams built sustainable packaging.

Alongside these, every student took part in Canvas of Green, an open mural where hundreds of green handprints came together to form the shape of a tree. This artwork is now being permanently framed and mounted on campus, a lasting reminder of our first year with Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival.
