Natyashala, the dramatics group of Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, was formed by our most talented seniors Satish Tripathi, Deepankur Mukherjee, Sandeep Sharma. The first play performed by Natyashala was a street play (Nukkad Natak), in Government College for Girls,Sector-11, Chandigarh at the cultural festival of the Department of Computer Applications. A whole lot of other students were now interested to become a part of Natyashala which enhanced the group’s strength to about 25. More efforts were put in to sharpen their dramatic skills by the students themselves which led them to another achievement to their credit. Natyashala was awarded the third prize at Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology, Chandigarh at their annual techno-cultural fest-Apratim, in March 2011 under the event Nukkad Natak. The group also performed a stage play at our college’s third techno-cultural festival i.e., Anant-2011. After these achievements the group also performed a stage play at the multi-theatre festival-SUKRITI in Chandigarh under the guidance of Mr. With fresh faces introduced in Natyashala, the group participated in the techno-cultural fest of Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, where they won the first prize, bringing laurels to their institution in November,2011. Natyashala was then awarded the award of honour and appreciation by the Managing Director, Sonalika Tractors Pvt. at the closing ceremony of PUSSGRC’s Annual Sports Meet. The group’s performance was thoroughly appreciated by them and Natyashala is now professionally involved with Sonalika Tractors Pvt.
