Free Legal Aid Camp on Cyber Fraud and Cyber Crime*

On 29th October 2024, a Free Legal Aid Camp focusing on "Cyber Fraud and Cyber Crime" was successfully organized in the villages namely Bohan and Patti. The camp was organised by Ms. Alka Rani, ( Assistant Professor of law) under the guidance of Principal Rangnath Singh and HOD Priyanka Puri, the camp aimed to raise awareness about cyber threats and preventive measures within the community. Students from the 9th semester actively participated, delivering informative speeches and real-life examples to educate school students about the dos and don’ts related to cybercrime. After the session, the students split into small groups to conduct a door-to-door campaign across both villages. This outreach helped bring awareness directly to the residents, offering them personalized insights and answering their questions about online safety.
The camp fostered a better understanding of cyber safety among both school students and villagers, empowering them to recognize and avoid cyber threats. The participants expressed gratitude for the initiative, as it clarified various aspects of online fraud prevention, secure internet practices, and steps to report cyber incidents. The outreach further strengthened the bond between the college and the community, establishing a foundation for continued education and awareness on digital safety.

*DIWALI CELEBRATION*
Under the supervision of campus director Dr.Chander Mohan, RBGI and Principal Dr. Rangnath Singh,RBCL and HOD Dr. Priyanka Puri, a grand celebration of Diwali festival was organized in the premises of Rayat Bahara College of Law, Hoshiarpur on Wednessday, 30th October from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm. The attractions of Diwali festival were rangoli making, diya making and Pooja Thali making . This program was coordinated by Ms. Sapna (Ast. Professor of laws). The students participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. The students made a beautiful rangoli and decorated diya very beautifully. It was a fun and frolic day for students. In the end Head of Department Dr. Priyanka Puri and faculty members wished everyone a Happy Diwali.

A seminar on the topic of “Cyber Crimes with Reference to Criminal Law” was held on November 7, 2024, at PRTC, Jahankhela. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Sukhpreet Kaur, a distinguished educator in the field of law who began the session with an introductory address on the rapid rise of cybercrime globally. She discussed how the growth of digital platforms has also led to increased vulnerability to cyber-attacks, identity theft, financial fraud, and cyberstalking. She emphasized the importance of legal frameworks in safeguarding individuals and organizations from cyber threats. Our students also discussed various aspects of cybercrime.
Law students & recruiters actively participated in the seminar, posing insightful questions and contributing to discussions. They were especially interested in the procedural aspects of prosecuting cybercrimes and the rights of individuals under current cyber laws. The interactive Q&A session allowed students to delve deeper into real-world applications of criminal law in tackling cyber offenses.
The organizing team and participants extended their gratitude to RBCL and Mrs. Sukhpreet Kaur for organizing this event, and to the students of law for sharing their knowledge and experiences, making the seminar a significant learning experience for all attendees.

INTRA- MOOT COMPETITION, 2024

Under the supervision of Dr. Rangnath Singh, Principal and Dr. Priyanka Puri HOD, RBCL,an intra- moot competition was conducted for the students of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) on dated 18th September, 2024. This competition provided a platform for law students to show their advocacy skills, legal knowledge and critical thinking. A total ten teams from the college participated in the aforesaid competition. The whole event was coordinated by Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor Laws with a team of students.There were total three rounds conducted, the preliminary rounds were judged by the Law Faculty of the college and the Final round was judged by Mr. R.L. Chauhan, Retired Chief Judicial Magistrate, Punjab; Sh. Hitesh Puri, Advocate Distt. Court, Hoshiarpur and Sh. T.P.S. Cheema, Advocate Distt. Court, Jalandhar. The expertise and constructive feedback of the esteemed Judges challenged our students to think critically and refine their arguments making the whole moot court competition an invaluable learning experience.
The Judges also motivated the students in fostering the next generation of legal professionals. The participants and the winners were awarded with the trophies and certificates. The event ended with the presentation of Momentums to the guests and a vote of thanks by Dr. Rangnath Singh.

Under the able guidance of Dr. Rangnath Singh, Principal and Dr. Priyanka Puri, HOD Rayat Bahra College of Law, the Legal Aid Services Clinic of the College, organised a one day Awareness camp in the Government school of village Bajrawar on March 29/08/2024 from 11:15 am to 01:00 Pm. The primary aim of the camp was to educate girls about good touch and bad touch and to make boys realize their responsibilities in addressing critical issues like r**e. The camp sought to empower students with knowledge and foster a sense of responsibility among boys toward creating a safer environment for all.This session was specifically designed for girl students to help them understand the difference between good touch and bad touch, recognize inappropriate behavior, and know how to respond if they find themselves in uncomfortable situations. Interactive discussions, and real-life scenarios were used to make the session engaging and informative.The camp was organised by a committee with the help of 35 students of B.A.,LL.B ( Hons.) 9th semester. Under the leadership of Dr. Rang Nath Singh, Principal, Rayat Bahra College of Law (RBCL), Hoshiarpur, a captivating and intellectually stimulating guest lecture was organized for the students of B.A., LL.B (Hons.) Semester 1. The lecture took place on 23rd August 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Moot Court of RBCL. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Balbinder Kumar, Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University SSG Regional Centre (PUSSRGC). The topic of the lecture was "The United Nations and India", with a focus on India's relationship with the UN and its significant contributions on the global stage. Dr. Balbinder Kumar began by providing a historical overview of the United Nations, outlining its formation and objectives. He emphasized the UN's primary goals of maintaining international peace and security, promoting human rights, fostering social and economic development, and ensuring adherence to the rule of international law. His detailed and informative lecture engaged the students deeply, sparking their curiosity about India's evolving role within the UN and its influence on global affairs. The students demonstrated keen interest throughout the session, actively participating and absorbing the important lessons imparted by the speaker. The insightful lecture enriched their understanding of the intersection between international law and politics, particularly in the context of India's diplomatic engagements. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Priyanka Puri, Head of the Department at RBCL. She expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. Balbinder Kumar for sharing his knowledge and insights with the students. As a token of appreciation, Dr. Priyanka Puri presented a memento to the esteemed guest.

Under the able guidance of Dr. R.N Singh, worthy Principal, RBCL and Dr. Priyanka Puri HOD, RBCL, a Volleyball tournament was organised in the main ground of campus on 21 August, 2024 for all the students of RBCL. 2 teams participated in the tournament and also performed very well. Rules and Criteria were shared among students well in advance. Tournament was supervised by Coordinator Mr. Sikander Singh, and Ms. Sukhpreet Uppal. All the participants performed very well and they all were very confident and active. The best teams were chosen by the evaluators based on the criteria. The result of the competition are as follows:

Rayat Bahra College of Law Hoshiarpur, in an endeavour to promote holistic learning and knowledge
of our varied cultural heritage conducted, a visit at The Archaeological Museum in Vishvesvaranand
Vishva Bandhu Institute Sanskrit and ldeological Studies, Sadhu Ashram, Hoshiarpur on 21st August
2024. It was inaugurated by Sh. G.S. Pathak, the then Vice-President of India, on 7th November, 1971.
It is one of the prestigious museums in Punjab. It holds variety of articles ranging from pre-historic
era to modern works of art. The main collection of the museum is Sculptures from around Dholbaha
area, a Place of rare archaeological value situated at a distance of about 30 kilometers to the North￾West of Hoshiarpur in Punjab. This visit was organised by Mr. Jetinder Kumar along with 76 students
from 3rd semester and took a guided tour round the museum. The trip began with a lot of enthusiasm
and vigour. Harappan terracotta pieces depicting the Mother Goddess, male figures, animal figures,
pottery, terracotta from Dholbaha, Sanghol, Ropar, Nawanshahr, part of the collection displayed at
the ground floor. All in all, the visit was a fruitful one as the students got an opportunity to visualise
the knowledge they gained from books and understand the importance of our historical civilisations
and their culture, parts of which we have imbibed even in our present cultures. The rich holdings of
various creative traditions and disciplines which represents a unity amidst diversity, an unmatched
blend of the past with the present and strong perspective for the future, brings history to life.
