Programme Details:
The Semester III students of the B.Ed. Department, Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah, organized an educational visit to Howrah Sharat Sadan for the students of Class X-B of Howrah Jogesh Chandra Girls’ High School. The main objective of the visit was to familiarize the students with the cultural and historical heritage of their local neighbourhood through direct observation.

During the visit, the students explored the archive and cultural collections of Sharat Sadan, where they observed various local historical and cultural evidences, including pottery, artworks, goddess sculptures and structures, and theatre-related materials. The visit helped them understand the cultural traditions and historical significance of their local area.

Program Outcome:
The programme provided the students with an opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real historical and cultural resources. It enhanced their interest in local history, encouraged observation and curiosity, and created awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.

Successful Online Counselling

The Online Document Verification-cum-Counselling for admission to the Two-Year B.Ed. Programme (2026–2028) was successfully conducted today.

The smooth and successful completion of the counselling was made possible through the effective coordination and dedicated efforts of faculties of B.Ed. Department and the College Authority and Computer Science department.

Name of the Programme: Gardening

Participants: Class VIII and IX Students

Programme Details:

The Semester III students of the B.Ed. Department, Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah, conducted a Gardening Programme for the students of Classes VIII and IX at Howrah Jogesh Chandra Girls’ High School. The programme was organized to develop awareness among the students regarding the importance of plants, gardening, environmental conservation, and the need to maintain a green and healthy school environment.

As part of the activity, the student-teachers brought different plants to the school for plantation. The students of Classes VIII and IX actively participated in the gardening activity. The plants were planted in suitable areas of the school playground, with the guidance and supervision of the student-teachers.

The students participated in preparing the planting areas, placing the plants in the soil, and covering the roots properly. The activity provided them with a practical understanding of the basic process of planting and the importance of caring for plants after plantation.

The programme also encouraged the students to develop a sense of responsibility towards nature and the school environment. Through direct participation in the plantation activity, the students were able to connect their classroom knowledge about plants and the environment with a real-life practical experience.

Programme Details:

The Semester III students of the B.Ed. Department, Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah, conducted a First Aid Programme for the students of Class VI at Howrah Jogesh Chandra Girls’ High School. The programme was organized to develop basic awareness among the students regarding first aid, its importance, and the appropriate steps to be taken during minor injuries and emergencies.

During the programme, the student-teachers used a chart to demonstrate the basic process of first aid in a simple and visually understandable manner. The students were introduced to the importance of providing immediate and appropriate care before professional medical assistance is available.

গত ২ সেপ্টেম্বর শিবপুর হিন্দু গার্লস হাই স্কুলে যথাযথ মর্যাদা ও উৎসাহ-উদ্দীপনার সঙ্গে সংস্কৃত দিবস উদ্‌যাপিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষিকা, শ্রীমতী দেবলীনা চ্যাটার্জী, সংস্কৃত ও অন্যান্য বিষয়ের শিক্ষিকাবৃন্দ, আমন্ত্রিত অতিথি এবং ষষ্ঠ থেকে অষ্টম শ্রেণির ছাত্রীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনায় একজন শিক্ষার্থী সংস্কৃত দিবসের তাৎপর্য সম্পর্কে সংক্ষিপ্ত ও মনোজ্ঞ বক্তব্য প্রদান করে। এরপর মঙ্গলাচরণ সংগীতের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানের আনুষ্ঠানিক সূচনা হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানের বিভিন্ন পরিবেশনার জন্য বিএড প্রশিক্ষণরত শিক্ষিকা তমসা সামন্ত, সুদীপা পাল ও বিদিশা দে শিক্ষার্থীদের বক্তৃতা, নৃত্য, শ্লোকপাঠ, ‘বিদ্যা প্রশস্তি’, ‘সুভাষিতানি’, শান্তিমন্ত্র ও ‘আনন্দলোকে’ সঙ্গীত প্রভৃতি পরিবেশনার জন্য যথাযথভাবে প্রস্তুত ও প্রশিক্ষিত করেন। প্রশিক্ষণের ফলস্বরূপ শিক্ষার্থীরা সেদিন অত্যন্ত সুষ্ঠু ও সাবলীলভাবে প্রতিটি পরিবেশনা উপস্থাপন করে। পরবর্তীতে প্রশিক্ষণরত শিক্ষিকা তমসা সামন্ত ও সুদীপা পাল সংস্কৃত দিবসের গুরুত্ব ও প্রাসঙ্গিকতা নিয়ে বক্তব্য রাখেন। এছাড়াও প্রধান শিক্ষিকা, আমন্ত্রিত শিক্ষিকা এবং বিদ্যালয়ের সংস্কৃত শিক্ষিকা তাঁদের মূল্যবান বক্তব্যের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীদের অনুপ্রাণিত করেন।

বিভিন্ন শিক্ষামূলক ও সাংস্কৃতিক পরিবেশনার মধ্য দিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানটি সাফল্যের সঙ্গে সমাপ্ত হয়।

Beginning of the 16-Week School Internship-
The B.Ed. Student-Teachers of our department began their 16-week School Internship today, marking an important milestone in their professional journey. The internship will provide them with valuable opportunities to apply their theoretical knowledge, develop teaching competencies, and gain first-hand experience in the school environment.
On the first day of the internship, the Head of the Department, along with two faculty members of the B.Ed. Department, visited five internship schools. During the visits, the faculty members held brief meetings with the respective Headmistresses and School Mentors to discuss the internship programme and extend necessary academic and institutional support.
We extend our heartiest best wishes to all our student-teachers for a meaningful, enriching, and successful internship journey. May this experience help them grow into confident, competent, reflective, and compassionate teachers. 🌸📚

Name of the Programme: Pre-Internship Conference
Organized by: Department of B.Ed. and IQAC, Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah

Date: 21 August 2026 (Friday)

Programme Details:
The conference was organized to prepare the B.Ed. students for their upcoming school internship and to provide them with a clear understanding of the various responsibilities, activities, teaching practices, and documentation involved in the internship programme.

The programme commenced at 10:30 a.m. with a welcome and introductory session on the functions of School Internship. The session provided students with an overview of the objectives, activities, and expectations associated with school internship.

A session on Teacher’s Diary, explaining its importance and the manner in which it should be maintained during the internship period. This was followed by a session on the Anatomy of Teaching-Learning, which focused on the essential components and processes involved in effective teaching and learning.

A Tiffin Break was observed from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thereafter, a session on the Roles of Pedagogy Teachers and Reflective Journal, highlighting the importance of reflection and guidance in the professional development of student-teachers.

The session on EIA and Action Research & Case Study, introduced students to the importance of systematic observation, investigation, documentation, and problem-solving in the school context.

A session on CGA, providing students with relevant guidance regarding the activity and its role during the internship. This was followed by a lecture by the Monitors on the Roles and Responsibilities of Monitors, emphasizing coordination, communication, discipline, and cooperation among the student-teachers.

After then a session on the Roles of Mentors and Responsibilities of Interns, helping the students understand their professional duties, conduct, and responsibilities throughout the internship period. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks.

Outcome:
The Pre-Internship Conference provided the B.Ed. students with comprehensive guidance and practical information regarding the upcoming school internship. The sessions helped the students understand the importance of maintaining the Teacher’s Diary and Reflective Journal, conducting Action Research and Case Studies, working effectively with pedagogy teachers and mentors, and fulfilling their responsibilities as interns and monitors.

The conference also helped the students become more aware of the expectations and professional responsibilities associated with school internship. The guidance provided by the teachers and faculty members enabled the student-teachers to approach their internship with greater confidence, preparedness, and clarity. Overall, the Pre-Internship Conference was an informative, practical, and enriching experience that effectively prepared the B.Ed. students for their forthcoming school internship.
