• BRAOU organized seven day Faculty Development programme on “Micro Credential Development” for Telangana degree colleges faculty members
Hyderabad, July 20, 2026: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Centre for Staff Training and Development (CSTD) in collaboration with Centre for Online Education and Learning (COEL) organized a week-long Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Micro Credential Development" from July 20 to 27 at the University campus. Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU attended as Chief Guest for the inaugural session. Prof. Chakrapani stated that the university designed the micro-credential development program with the aim of creating course material that is easy for students to comprehend and study, enabling them to grasp concepts through self-study. He noted that mastering micro-credentials developed by trained faculty would allow higher education students to enhance their skills in alignment with market demands, thereby improving their employability and job prospects. He also mentioned the inauguration of ICT labs equipped with advanced digital technology to support faculty development, explaining that these labs would serve as hubs for technology-enabled teaching and facilitate online and blended learning programs.
Prof.G.Pushpa Chakrapani, Director COEL preside over the function. While speaking on the occasion, she announced that initiatives such as Faculty Development Programs (FDP) including training on micro-credential development for degree college faculty and upcoming training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for school teachers are being undertaken. She also mentioned that the necessary infrastructure for these training programs has been established with government support.

• BRAOU Inaugurated ICT labs established with PM-USHA Funds.
Hyderabad, July 20, 2026: Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University and Dr. Soundarya Joseph, State Project Officer, PM-USHA inaugurated the newly established "Information and Communication Technology" (ICT) labs at the administrative building at the Campus on Monday. Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani emphasized that, given the rapidly evolving modern technological landscape, faculty members must master ICT skills; only then can students in universities and colleges be equipped to compete effectively in the global market. He revealed that the ICT labs at Ambedkar Open University were established with financial assistance from PM-USHA precisely with this objective in mind. He noted that the inauguration of these state-of-the-art ICT labs marks another significant step towards strengthening digital education at the university. He explained that university faculty members need to embrace modern knowledge in line with market changes and master the latest innovations in their respective fields only then will they be able to effectively mold the students studying in their institutions into high-caliber individuals.
Distinguished Guest Dr.Soundarya Joseph, State Project Officer, PM-USHA said that Ambedkar University is moving forward with the goal of comprehensively integrating modern technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into higher education. She noted that enhancing the faculty's ICT proficiency for digital teaching would ultimately benefit the students. She assured that the government would provide the necessary support for developing infrastructure and expanding technology as the university advances towards digital training and instruction.

BRAOU Receives UGC Approval for
Five New Academic Programmes
Hyderabad, July 15, 2026: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) has received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to launch five new academic programmes in high-demand professional and academic disciplines.
The newly approved programmes are:
• M. A. Education
• M. A. Education (School Administration)
• Master of Social Work (MSW)
• M. Sc. (Geography)
• B. Ed. (Special Education) – (Renewal)
The UGC Expert Committee conducted a virtual inspection in June to assess the university's academic preparedness, infrastructure, learner support systems, digital resources, and regulatory compliance before approving these programmes. The introduction of the education programmes follows an initiative of the Government of Telangana. Earlier, Dr. Yogita Rana, IAS, Secretary, School Education, identified the need for systematic professional development of teachers through open and distance learning and requested that the university introduce specialised education programmes to strengthen teachers' capacities across the state.
Expressing his gratitude, Vice- Chancellor Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani thanked the University Grants Commission for approving the Programs. He said that the three education- related programmes—M. A. Education, M. A. School Administration, and the renewed B. Ed. programme for in- service teachers (Renewal of approval) —would provide significant opportunities for teachers working in government and private educational institutions to upgrade their qualifications and enhance their professional competencies in educational leadership, school administration, and educational management. Prof. Chakrapani further stated that the university proposes to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School Education Department to train teachers across Telangana in phases, thereby contributing to continuous professional development and improved school leadership. He also observed that the Master of Social Work (MSW) and M.Sc. in Geography programmes are among the most sought-after postgraduate programmes and are expected to attract a large number of learners from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. डॉ. बी.आर. अंबेडकर सार्वत्रिक विश्वविद्यालय (BRAOU) में शैक्षणिक वर्ष 2026-27 हेतु विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों में प्रवेश प्रक्रिया प्रारंभ हो गई है। विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा जारी अधिसूचना के अनुसार डिग्री (बी.ए., बी.कॉम., बी.एससी.), स्नातकोत्तर (एम.ए., एम.कॉम., एम.एससी., एम.बी.ए.), बी.एल.आई.एससी., एम.एल.आई.एससी., पीजी डिप्लोमा तथा विभिन्न सर्टिफिकेट पाठ्यक्रमों में प्रवेश के लिए ऑनलाइन आवेदन आमंत्रित किए गए हैं।
विश्वविद्यालय अधिकारियों ने बताया कि प्रवेश संबंधी शैक्षणिक योग्यता, शुल्क (Fee), आवेदन प्रक्रिया एवं अन्य विस्तृत जानकारी विश्वविद्यालय की वेबसाइट www.braouonline.in तथा www.braou.ac.in पर उपलब्ध है। इच्छुक अभ्यर्थी निर्धारित प्रक्रिया के अनुसार ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण कर प्रवेश प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार शैक्षणिक वर्ष 2026-27 में प्रथम वर्ष में प्रवेश लेने वाले विद्यार्थियों को द्वितीय वर्ष की ट्यूशन फीस भी नियमानुसार जमा करनी होगी। इसके अतिरिक्त वे विद्यार्थी जो निर्धारित समय में शुल्क का भुगतान नहीं कर सके थे, उन्हें भी 7 अगस्त 2026 तक ऑनलाइन माध्यम से शुल्क जमा करने का अवसर प्रदान किया गया है।
विश्वविद्यालय ने यह भी स्पष्ट किया है कि डिग्री पाठ्यक्रमों के द्वितीय एवं तृतीय शैक्षणिक वर्ष (बैच 2021-22 से 2025-26) तथा पीजी (स्नातकोत्तर) पाठ्यक्रमों के द्वितीय वर्ष (बैच 2023-24 से 2025-26) के वे छात्र-छात्राएँ जिन्होंने समय पर ट्यूशन फीस का भुगतान नहीं किया, वे भी इस विशेष अवसर का लाभ उठा सकते हैं। विद्यार्थी 7 अगस्त 2026 तक नेट बैंकिंग, क्रेडिट कार्ड, डेबिट कार्ड अथवा टीएस ऑनलाइन के माध्यम से ट्यूशन फीस का भुगतान कर सकते हैं।

AI SKILLS ARE SHAPING FUTURE CAREERS

* Awareness session at Ambedkar University on 'Artificial Intelligence – Responsible Use'

Hyderabad: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University conducted an awareness program on 'Responsible Usage of Artificial Intelligence' on Friday. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, attended the program as the chief guest. On this occasion, VC Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani mentioned that artificial intelligence (AI) has become essential in society, and university faculty should have a strong grip on AI so that they can teach students in a way they fully understand. Keeping this in mind, it was revealed that Ambedkar Open University has specifically set up AI labs. The VC suggested that faculty should adapt to market changes, acquire modern knowledge, and keep track of technological advancements to stay well-informed.
Dr. Srinivas Gujju, Senior Director of Intelligent Automation and Finance Transformation, who participated as the main speaker in the program, said that AI will not eliminate jobs, but will create more employment opportunities. He expressed that expert who learn to use AI effectively have good job and career prospects. He suggested that AI tools should be used only as assistants to get the expected results at lower cost and time and to improve productivity. After gaining knowledge, one should try developing AI agents independently. He explained that one should assess opportunities, create content, identify in-demand areas worldwide, and use human intelligence (AI) in those fields. He discussed in detail the differences between myths and facts about AI. He suggested that before relying heavily on AI-generated information, it should be carefully verified once again. Dr. Srinivas Gujju explained that teachers should use AI by combining well-designed lesson plans and structured learning experiences, and that it would be crucial for scholars in research.
The program was chaired by the University Academic Director and COEL Director, Prof. Pushpa Chakrapani. She spoke about how we should also adopt technology to match the changing modern conditions. She emphasized the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and mentioned that AI should be used very carefully, in ways that benefit society. The program was attended by Registrar Dr. L. Vijay Krishna Reddy, Prof. Anand Pawar, VC OSD Prof. D. Ravindranath Solomon; Prof. Pallavi Kabde, AI technology expert Sushmana Rao, Prof. S.V. CINE ACTOR RAHUL RAMAKRISHNA JOINS IN AMBEDKAR OPEN UNIVERSITY DEGREE COURSE

Hyderabad: Rahul Ramakrishna, the cinema actor famous for the movie 'Bharat Ane Nenu,' has taken admission into a degree course at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University. On this occasion, actor Rahul Ramakrishna visited the university on Thursday. After completing the admission process, he respectfully met with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani. Later, VC Prof. Chakrapani congratulated Rahul and presented him with the B.A. course books. Speaking on the occasion, actor Ramakrishna said that Open University is a boon for those who could not complete higher education, those who cannot continue their studies due to financial problems and other issues. No matter how much money you earn or how much fame you gain, he said, education gives a person special recognition in the society. He mentioned that he had stopped studying engineering midway and has now returned to Ambedkar Open University. Recently, he mentioned that he was really impressed by the decisions taken by Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, and praised how it provides free education to primitive tribal communities and transgender people, giving everyone equal opportunities.
