The college is housed in an impressive 8-acre campus in the heart of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. From a student strength of 15 in 1959, the college has grown into a prestigious institution with a student force of 4,059 and a faculty strength of 185 teaching and 104 non-teaching, offering Graduate and select Post Graduate, Diploma and Certificate Courses. Since then the college h

as proved to be a trendsetter in academic development with a commitment to a value system and qualitative self-improvement. Accredited with 5 stars by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in the year 1999 and Reaccredited at the ‘A’ Level in the year 2006, it is the first autonomous college in the twin cities, affiliated to Osmania University, Andhra Pradesh. The University Grants Commission has identified the college as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ in the year 2004. The College has introduced Choice and Credit Based Semester System in the year 2005 as a positive step towards achieving parity with educational institutions elsewhere in the world. In keeping with the changing trends in the field of education at the global scenario, the college has also introduced Inter Disciplinary Electives (IDE) as an integral part of choice and Credit Based Semester System from June 2006.

The Department of Zoology, under the DBT STAR College Strengthening Component, organised a field visit to Winning Fins, Shadnagar, for BSc second-year SEC students as part of Experiential Learning in Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Practices. The Department of Chemistry organised a workshop on "Techniques in Phytochemistry: Plant Extraction, TLC & Column Chromatography" for BSc Chemistry project students under the DBT STAR College Scheme. The resource person, Dr. K. Suresh Babu, Chief Scientist, CSIR-IICT, emphasised the role of these techniques in drug discovery, herbal product standardisation and natural product research, extraction of piperine from pepper using soxhlet apparatus and purification by column chromatography.

The Department of Microbiology organised a two-day faculty development program and workshop on cell culture techniques under the DBT Star College scheme. The resource person for the workshop Dr. Ramesh Kande, founder and CEO, MicroN Life Sciences enlightened the participants with his expertise. Cell culture, a laboratory technique to grow and maintain cells outside their natural environment, is vital in microbiology, biotechnology, immunology, molecular biology, pharmacology, and biomedical research. Faculty from various colleges participated enthusiastically and expressed a high level of learning.

The Department of Zoology organised an Industrial visit for the students of BSc III A & III N to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), one of the premier research institutions in Hyderabad. Aasara Counselling Centre conducted a group session on “Navigating Interpersonal Relationships” for UG 2nd-year students.

The session focused on building practical skills to navigate relationships effectively through interactive activities that centred around communication, conflict resolution, setting healthy boundaries, and promoting inclusion. The session encouraged students to reflect on their relationships and develop healthier, more respectful ways of connecting with others.
