What is an MUN? Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about: • Civics • Current Affairs • Effective Communication • Globalization and Multilateral Diplomacy. What happens in an MUN? • In a standard MUN, students take on roles as diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an Inter-government Organisation(s) (IGO). Participants/ delegates research on a country and address the issue/ problem brought up in one of the six committees of the United Nations. ** Its Advantages ** • MUN helps students to learn important skills of negotiation and compromise. It helps in making student attentive and active listeners. Also developing the overall confidence of the individual. • The purpose of the Model United Nations or MUN is to provide an interactive educational experience that teaches, in an interesting and enjoyable way, the working of the United Nations. Why MUN? • It’s a fun way of learning about the world: • It develops leadership skills: • One can leverage their MUN experience and network to get into a college for post graduation and to find jobs.
