DNGC Itanagar Explores the Future of Leadership at International Workshop on AI-Motivated Personality Development

Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar, organized an International Workshop on “AI-Motivated Personality Development Skills” on 28th April 2026 at the Conference Hall of the college. Centered around the theme “The Art of Communication is the Language of Leadership,” the workshop aimed to equip participants with essential communication and personality development skills in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
Dr. Ratna Tayeng, Programme Coordinator, warmly welcomed all the resource persons and participants.
In his address, Principal Dr. M.Q. Khan highlighted DNGC’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, emphasizing its consistent performance, active departmental contributions, and strong results. He underscored the importance of initiatives such as career counselling and skill-based programs in enhancing students’ growth and employability. Lauding the operational efficiency and proactive faculty contributions, he noted that the event’s success—evidenced by robust student participation despite the examination season—reflects the college’s dedication to equipping students with essential, AI-aligned communication and personality skills in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
Session 1, titled Introducing Communication Skills: The Linchpins with AI Tools, was conducted by Dr. Sanya Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. The session explored the evolving communicative environment in the age of AI, highlighting key concepts such as the KOPPACT factor, active listening, effective speaking, and the role of ice-breakers in sustaining conversations. Communication was described as a set of essential “linchpins” that enable meaningful interaction across contexts, with AI tools like GPT positioned as supportive technologies that process and generate human language rather than replace human communicators. Emphasis was placed on understanding both the advantages and limitations of AI, including issues of linguistic bias, accessibility, and the need for institutional support for effective implementation. The KOPPACT framework—covering kinesics, oculesics, paralanguage, proxemics, chronemics, haptics, and artifactics—was introduced as a comprehensive model of non-verbal communication. The session also underlined core communication skills such as empathy, clarity, conflict resolution, and adaptability. Finally, ice-breakers were discussed as important tools for fostering connection, reducing anxiety, encouraging participation, and setting a collaborative tone in group interactions.
Session 2, Presentation & Interaction: Not WHAT you Say, but HOW you Say it!, was conducted by Mr. Nending Ommo, Associate Professor, Department of English, Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar. The session emphasized that effective communication depends not only on words but significantly on delivery—tone, pitch, modulation, body language, confidence, and emotional expression.
Communication was explained as comprising two parts: content (what is said) and delivery (how it is said), with delivery shaping interpretation and impact. Key elements of effective presentation included voice tone, facial expressions, clarity, presence, and the avoidance of fillers. The session highlighted how delivery influences first impressions, emotional connection, persuasion, and leadership.
Several theories were introduced to support this idea, including Mehrabian’s Communication Theory, Aristotle’s Rhetoric (ethos, pathos, logos), Nonverbal Communication Theory, Paralinguistics, Social Presence Theory, Expectancy Violations Theory, Emotional Intelligence Theory, Transactional Model, Impression Management, and Cognitive Load Theory. Together, these frameworks reinforced that communication effectiveness is deeply tied to how messages are expressed and perceived.
The session also introduced AI-based tools such as Orai, Speeko, Yoodli, ELSA Speak, Gamma, Canva, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini for improving communication skills. It concluded that while words provide meaning, it is delivery that transforms communication into impact, making it essential for effective speaking and leadership.
Session 3, Communicating your Way to Success: From Social to Digital Leadership, was conducted by Dr. Razzeko Delley, Associate Professor & Head, Department of English, Arunachal Pradesh University, Pasighat. The session focused on communication as a foundation for leadership, success, and societal influence in both social and digital spaces.
Key areas included SMART goal-setting, building relationships (including public relations and clientele management), effective use of social networks and media for communication and marketing, as well as group dynamics, conflict resolution, and the development of core skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
A major theme of the session was language power, highlighting language as more than a communication tool—it shapes thought, identity, culture, and reality. It was discussed in relation to human evolution, emphasizing its biological and cognitive foundations and its role in survival, social organisation, knowledge transmission, and cultural development.
The session further explored the relationship between language and power in society, including political, social, and ideological dimensions, drawing on thinkers like Michel Foucault. It also examined how language constructs identity, preserves knowledge, and enables expression in literature, art, and digital communication. In the modern context, the role of language in social media and global communication was emphasized, along with its potential to influence, inspire, or manipulate.
Additionally, the importance of writing, reading, and speech was highlighted as three pillars of communication. Writing was described as a lasting tool for shaping ideas and preserving knowledge, reading as a means of intellectual growth and transformation, and speech as a powerful medium for persuasion and inspiration. The session concluded by reinforcing that mastery of language empowers individuals to think critically, communicate effectively, and actively participate in shaping society.
Session 4, Communication Skills 3: Visual Communication, was conducted by Mr. Goli Nyodu, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Dera Natung Government College. The session explored visual communication as a key aspect of modern communication, focusing on visual culture, perception, aural communication, body language, and facial expressions.
His presentation explored communication in the contemporary digital age, focusing on the interplay between visual culture, perception, oral communication, body language, and artificial intelligence. He highlighted how today’s image-driven world often communicates faster and more powerfully through visuals, while meaning is ultimately constructed by the viewer based on experience, culture, and context.
A key insight was the subjectivity of perception—where the same message can be interpreted differently by different individuals. He noted that miscommunication often arises not from language, but from differences in perception, making clarity and awareness essential, especially in leadership communication.
The session also emphasized the importance of oral communication, where tone, pitch, pace, and pauses shape meaning, along with non-verbal cues such as body language and facial expressions, which often carry greater impact than words. He further discussed the growing influence of artificial intelligence in visual culture, where AI now analyses and generates human-like communication, raising concerns about authenticity and perception.
He concluded that effective leadership communication requires the integration of visual presence, voice, body language, and perceptual awareness. In a digital age where both humans and machines observe and interpret communication, success lies in being intentional, clear, and mindful of how one is perceived.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Joba Riba, Co-Coordinator of the workshop. He expressed sincere gratitude to all the resource persons for their valuable sessions and insights. He also thanked the organisers and participants for their active involvement. He noted that the workshop provided meaningful learning on different aspects of communication and would help participants become more confident and effective communicators in both academic and professional fields.

Workshop on AI, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics Held at DNGCI
Itanagar, April 27: A one-day workshop on “Emerging Prospects of Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics” was successfully organised at Dera Natung Government College (DNGCI), Itanagar, on April 27, 2026. The programme was jointly organised by Rashtriya Raksha University, Pasighat Campus, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with Dera Natung Government College.
Guest of Honour Bengia Ajum, Senior Journalist and Assistant Editor of The Arunachal Times, delivered an insightful address on the growing influence of AI in everyday life and journalism. He pointed out emerging challenges, particularly the misuse of AI by individuals on social media to generate misleading content with unusually sophisticated language, which was rare in the past. He warned that sharing personal photos and data on platforms like Instagram and Facebook can be risky, as such data can be manipulated using AI to defame individuals or spread false information.
Drawing from his professional experience, he mentioned that many people have approached media houses with cases related to cybercrime and digital fraud. He advised students to verify information received on platforms like WhatsApp before forwarding, noting that the spread of misinformation can sometimes lead to communal unrest. At the same time, he acknowledged that AI has also positively contributed to journalism by aiding in fact-checking and improving content quality. He further informed the audience about the availability of Cyber Crime Police Station in Chimpu, Arunachal Pradesh where victims can lodge complaints.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. M. Q. Khan, Principal of DNGCI, delivered a thought-provoking speech on the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence in facilitating cybercrime. He observed that while AI has brought convenience and efficiency, it has also made cybercrimes more sophisticated, accessible, and difficult to detect. He stressed that today’s digital environment demands not only technical awareness but also ethical responsibility.
He urged students to become responsible and informed users of the internet, emphasizing that individuals must strive to be “masters of the internet, not its slaves.” He further cautioned against the careless sharing of personal information, noting that even small pieces of data can be misused for fraud, identity theft, or manipulation. Highlighting the importance of digital discipline, he advised students to practice safe online behaviour, including the use of strong passwords, cautious engagement with unknown links, and critical evaluation of online content.
Dr. Khan also underlined the role of educational institutions in fostering cyber awareness and digital literacy among youth, stating that awareness is the first line of defence against cyber threats. He encouraged students to stay vigilant, continuously upgrade their knowledge, and contribute towards creating a safer digital ecosystem.

Earlier in the welcome address delivered by Dr. Tarh Achi, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and NSS Programme Officer, DNGCI and the coordinator of the workshop. He highlighted the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Digital Forensics in shaping national security, governance, and everyday life, and emphasized the importance of awareness among students.

The technical session commenced with a lecture by Dr. Ishaq Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Head (IT), Rashtriya Raksha University. He presented an in-depth overview of cybersecurity and digital forensics, describing them as the “digital shield and investigative lens” of the modern technological world. He explained key aspects such as threat prevention, risk assessment, and incident response, along with tools like firewalls, VPNs, and multi-factor authentication.
He also elaborated on digital forensics procedures, including evidence collection, analysis, and reporting, and highlighted how cybercriminals collect personal data from everyday sources such as public Wi-Fi, e-commerce platforms, websites, hotels, and even connected vehicles. Such data, he noted, is often exploited for identity theft, financial fraud, and phishing scams. He also discussed the role of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre in combating cybercrime in the country, concluding with a strong message on digital awareness: “Be aware, be cautious, and think before you click.”
Another technical session was delivered by Rajkumar Meiraba Singh, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University. He highlighted the mandates and academic vision of the University, an Institution of National Importance established in 2020, evolved from Raksha Shakti University. He informed that the Pasighat campus of the University in Arunachal Pradesh plays a significant role in expanding academic outreach in the Northeast, offering specialised education in police administration, security management, and forensic science.
He further elaborated that the University provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programmes with a strong focus on areas such as cyber security, border management, and policing, aimed at developing skilled and competent professionals for national security. Emphasising the institution’s commitment to excellence, he spoke about its role in promoting research, professional training, and policy development, along with providing career opportunities, internships, and job pathways in law enforcement and related sectors.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the host, Miss Sone Tayeng, a B.Sc. II student of the Department of Chemistry, DNGCI.
