✨ We are thrilled to welcome Ashwath Bhatt to FTII Itanagar!

💫 A distinguished actor, theatre director, educator, acting mentor, and clowning practitioner, Ashwath brings over two decades of experience across theatre, cinema, and actor training. An NSD alumnus and LAMDA-trained in Classical Acting, Acting Instruction and Clowning, he is a pioneer of Red Nose Clowning in India and founder of the Theatre Garage Project.

🎬 His screen credits include Raazi, Kesari, Haider, Sita Ramam, Mission Majnu and The Diplomat, alongside collaborations with filmmakers such as Mira Nair, Meghna Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj.

🎭 We look forward to an enriching exploration of play, performance and physical storytelling as he leads an exclusive Clowning Workshop for MFA Screen Acting students at FTII Itanagar.

🎉 Another proud chapter in the SRFTI legacy! The Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute proudly celebrates another significant milestone as its alumni contribute to the success of Sunita, recipient of the Best Manipuri Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards (2026). Behind this remarkable achievement stand four exceptional SRFTI alumni who brought their expertise to the project.

✨ Abison and Hiranmoy are both 3rd batch alumni from the Electronic and Digital Media (EDM) wing at SRFTI. Abison specialized in Direction & Producing for EDM, whereas Hiranmoy completed with a specialization in EDM Editing. Nihal and Meenakshi are both alumni from the Cinematography department (16th batch) of Film Wing.

💫 Their achievement reflects the collaborative spirit and multidisciplinary training that define an SRFTI education. As one of India's premier institutions for film and media education, SRFTI continues to empower creative professionals who contribute meaningfully to the evolution of Indian cinema.

🎥 The Documentary Cinema department concluded Semester II with screenings of students’ short films from the Location Based Documentary Project, followed by discussions and evaluations.

💫 Documentary filmmaker and guest faculty member Farida Pacha joined as the external assessor, alongside FTII Itanagar's Dean (I/C) and HOD, Documentary Cinema Bishnudev Halder, and faculty members of the institute.

✨ Students reflected on their creative processes, storytelling choices, and production experiences, gaining valuable feedback on their work. Farida Pacha’s acclaimed documentary My Name is Salt was screened, followed by an engaging Q&A session.
Students from other departments and FTII Itanagar staff attended and actively participated in the discussions.

💫 SRFTI alumni shine on the international documentary circuit!

🎉 Proud moment for SRFTI!
'Song of Behula', a powerful documentary exploring the living storytelling traditions and ecological distress surrounding the Adi Ganga River, was selected for its World Premiere at the prestigious Visions du Réel International Film Festival, Switzerland.

🎬 Written, directed, and edited by SRFTI alumnus Akashdeep Banerjee (18th Batch, Direction & Screenplay Writing), the film also features the creative contributions of Vaskar Mech (Co-Cinematographer, 18th Batch) and Anik Bose (Sound Recording and Design, 18th Batch).

🎊 Adding to this achievement, the film was also invited to participate in the Cannes SFC Rendezvous during the 79th Festival de Cannes.

✨ This milestone reflects how SRFTI nurtures storytellers whose voices resonate across borders.
