We are delighted to announce a timely and impactful publication from the Department of Chemistry in Discover Applied Sciences:
“Generative AI as Chemist’s Virtual Assistant: A Case Study with the Chemistry of SmI₂.”

This important work, co-authored by PhD scholar Palak Dawar under the supervision of Dr. Suranjan De (Assistant Professor), examines how AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini handle advanced chemistry queries.

Given the rapid integration of AI into scientific disciplines, this study arrives at a highly relevant moment — offering early insights into both the potential and limitations of AI as a tool in chemical research and education.

The findings indicate that while AI often provides accurate responses, its outputs can vary — emphasizing the continuing need for expert validation and careful prompting.
