Workshop on climate change begins

SURAT: The three-day workshop on climate change began at the Architecture department of Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology (SCET) on Tuesday. It has been organized with support of National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA).
Topics like effects of development on climate change and how to mitigate them were discussed with top officials from Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Jodhpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and Ujjain.
Persi Engineer, a planner and principal of Architecture faculty of SCET, said, "As urban planners we all need to understand the effects of climate change which has become a reality now and plan out urban future accordingly."
Shyamala Mani and Raghupati from NIUA, a body constituted by government of India, illustrated the subjects with the help of practical case studies.
