The Taekwondo Federation of India is affiliated with Indian Olympic Association (IOA), World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), JKTA was established in 1987.
2. First state championship was organized in 1993.
3. The Golden era of Taekwondo in J&K started in 2008 when the team won first ever medal in 3rd Taekwondo Poomsae National championship. First ever Gold medal was won by Atul Pangotra in Senior Indi

vidual Category and Bronze medal Won by Male Team Poomsae event by Vikrant Joshi, Atul Pangotra and Vivek Padha. J&k secured overall 2nd position in the said championships.

4. The performance of J&K Team improved in 4th Taekwondo Poomsae Championships as they dominated by winning 4 Gold medals in the senior category and clinched overall 1st position.
5. J&K Taekwondo team participated in the 5th National Taekwondo Poomsae championship in Guwahati, Assam and Won Winners trophy in Junior Boys team and Junior Girls team and also Won Runners up trophy in Senior Men team division with total 10 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

6. Our State team Won Overall 1st Position in 2nd North Zone Taekwondo Championships at Jammu, 2010 and Won 2nd Position in 3rd North Zone Taekwondo Championships at Chandigarh with 55 medals in various Categories includes 3 Gold, 16 Silver & 39 Bronze medals and Won Overall 3rd Position in National Inter Zone at Banglore, 2011.

7. Recently, J&K team participated in 3rd North Zone Taekwondo Championship at Haryana and won Overall Runners Up Trophy with 3 Gold 16 Silver and 39 bronze medals.

8. 3 players of J&K participated in 4th world Taekwondo Poomsae championship held in Cairo, Egypt and 4 players participated in 5th World Taekwondo Poomsae championship held in Uzbekistan in 2010 and in 2011.



9. Our International Player Atul Pangotra participated 6th World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Vladivostok, Russia with the support of Sh. Anil Gupta Chairman J&K Taekwondo Association and brought laurel for the State.

10. Our 2 Players Manpreet Singh and Zaheer Abbass participated in 1st Mount Everest Taekwondo Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal, 2011 and in the same championship Atul Pangotra participated as a International Referee.

11. In 2011 Atul Pangotra successfully completed WTF KHU International Coaches Course in Kyung Hee University South Korea. He was first Indian to get Scholarship from World Taekwondo Federation for the said Course two times. In 2008 Atul attended same course in Korea.

12. In 2012 our player Atul Pangotra participated in the 2nd Asian Taekwondo poomsae Championships held at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and brought laurel for the state and got 5th Place in Individual Category and 7th in Pair event. This is highest achievement of any Poomsae player from India.

13. Two players of J&K team were participated in 5th commonwealth Taekwondo Championships held at Chennai, India and Won 2 Bronze Medals in Senior and Junior Category. Atul Pangotra (Senior ) and Mohd Saud Bhat (Junior) brought laurel for state and created history by winning first International medal for J&K.

14. J&K team participated in the Sub Junior Taekwondo championship in Lucknow and won 2 bronze medals. Medal winners are Aryan Gupta from Jammu and Inayat Hussain Dar from Srinagar.
15. This year Atul Pangotra, NIS Chief Coach of J&K got privilege to be a Technical Committee member of Taekwondo Federation of India.

16. The performance of the J&K team in the last Five years has over shadowed the previous years’ performance. JKTA has organized regular camps to train athletes for the National and zonal championships as is evident from the achievements of State team. JKTA has 2 NIS Coach, more than 200 black belts, 1 International referee, 20 National referees, and 9 International players.
