Branch: Computer Science and Engineering
Company: GEP
Profile: Software Development Engineering Intern

: On-Campus through CDC.

Online Test Experience:
It was a one-hour test consisting of around 20 MCQ Questions and 2 Coding questions: one was easy and the other was of medium difficulty. The MCQ questions were mostly based on core Computer Science topics like Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Database Management Systems (DBMS), Computer Networks (C.N), OOPs concepts, and more. I couldn't answer the questions from topics like DBMS, CN as they weren't covered yet. So you can prepare for these topics too if are confident enough in Coding and other Core C.S topics.

:
Round-1:
The interviewer asked me to introduce a bit about myself and regarding the projects mentioned in my Resume. Then, I was asked a few easy coding algorithms based questions and then few questions were based on basic web development knowledge. There were few questions on OOPS concepts, I was mainly asked to define the important concepts involved in OOPS like Encapsulation, and so on At last, there were few common questions like C vs Python among others.

Round-2:
First I was asked to Introduce myself just like in the first round. This time I gave a longer introduction of myself mentioning my extracurricular interests and stuff. Next, the interviewer asked me to explain my projects and the technologies used in them. There were follow-up questions regarding why I chose those technologies over the others, so be thorough with your projects to answer such questions. One of my projects was based on OOPS so I was asked to share my screen and write down some code related to an OOPS concept

: I felt I lacked confidence in the earlier interviews I faced. Unfortunately, I couldn't take mock interviews before giving my main interviews so I strongly feel everyone must take up mock interviews before the main interview. Also, it's important to speak out your thought process to the interviewer instead of thinking silently. Geeks for Geeks interview experiences are a must before the Interview to roughly know what you would be facing and be prepared accordingly

Profile Offered: Summer Intern

: On-Campus through CDC. Online Test followed by two interviews.
Online Test experience: 3 coding problems (increasing difficulty). The first question was quite simple, the second question had a few tricky corner cases, and the third question was a bit difficult.
Topics Concentrated in the online test: Dynamic Programming, Greedy Algorithms, Arrays, and Strings.

Number of rounds: 2 (technical, technical)
Topics Concentrated in Interview: Trees, Graphs, Dynamic Programming, Arrays.

:
● First Round (Duration: around 45-50 minutes)
o The main focus was on problem-solving and coding. After the introduction, I was asked two coding questions.
o The first question was based on Dynamic Programming, and the second one was based on tree traversal.
o Then, there were some C/C++ specific questions. Some of the questions are:
▪ What is a memory leak and how to prevent it?
▪ Overload “

: On-Campus through CDC. Online Test followed by three interviews.
Online Test experience: We were given 90 minutes to solve 3 coding problems.
Topics Concentrated in the online test: Dynamic Programming, Strings, basic DSA

Number of rounds: 3 (Technical, Technical, HR)
Topics Concentrated in Interview: Trees(very important), Arrays, Stacks.

:
Round 1: (60 min)
● Sort the given array of integers in the waveform. Time complexity O(n).
Eg. input:[10,100,50,2,1,5,25];
output:[100,10,50,1,5,2,25]or[10,100,2,50,1,25,5];
● A question related to Topological sort.
● Given a tree, print the boundary of the tree in an anticlockwise direction(left most nodes from top to bottom, leaf nodes from left to right, and rightmost nodes from bottom to top)

Round 2: (60 min)
● 5-6 basic questions on Trees.
● Check if the given tree is a BST or not. 3-4 follow-up questions.
● Search an element in a rotated sorted array.

Round 3: (75 min)
● Though it was an HR round, the major focus was on my resume. After a brief introduction, I was asked to explain all my projects one by one and many questions were asked about every project. Then I was asked about my extracurricular activities and casual stuff like hobbies, interests.

:
● Don’t waste much time on building too many projects. Instead, concentrate on enhancing your problem solving skills. Practice questions from GFG, Leetcode in a time bound manner. It helps in the fast triggering of ideas.
● Dynamic Programming is crucial if you are aiming for a Day-0 company. Practice more on DP to be good at it.
● Stay cool and be confident during the interview. Express your ideas and be very interactive with the interviewer. All the best!

: On-Campus through CDC. Online Test followed by technical interviews.
Online Test experience: The test had three sections- Questions based on ECE core, General aptitude based questions, and coding section.
Topics Concentrated in the online test: Digital electronics, VLSI, Computer architecture

Topics Concentrated in Interview: Combinational and Sequential circuits, Frequency divider circuits
Interview questions:
• Logical expression to detect numbers divisible by 5 for 4-bit input
• Design a circuit that divides the incoming frequency by 6
• Question based on the binary search algorithm
• To design a combinational circuit for a given system description

HR / Behavioural/ Managerial questions:
• Questions based on project I included in my CV
• What are my interests?
• Why did you choose ECE as your branch?

:
• Be clear with the concepts taught in digital electronics. Having some idea about VLSI (especially the CMOS logic circuits) and computer architecture (available on YouTube) will give you an upper hand. Think loud during the interview i.e., interact with the interviewers, tell them your approach for the question rather than the final answer. Last but not least stay calm during the interview.

: On-Campus through CDC. Online Test followed by one interview.
Online Test experience: It consists of 4 sections:
1) Debugging: It consists of 7 Questions, having small code snippets, provided with a problem statement and expected output. One should modify the minimum number of statements possible so
that the code solves the given problem and passes all the test cases.
2) Coding Round: Different questions for everyone, but everyone will have 2 questions.
1 on D.P. - Find the minimum of maximums of all paths possible in a grid.1 question on 2 pointers, DP - https://leetcode.com/problems/longest-palindromic-substring/
3) Behavioral Section: This section consists of questions that majorly focus on your personality and behavior.
4) Logical Reasoning: Aptitude questions and Verbal reasoning. (Easy but we should be a bit quick)
Topics Concentrated in the online test: Dynamic Programming, Two pointers, Strings.

Number of rounds: 1 ( Technical + HR )
Topics Concentrated in Interview: Graphs, C++(STL library, Maps, Pairs)

Interview Questions:
● Graph Question: https://leetcode.com/problems/rotting-oranges/
Nearly gave 30 min time to complete and I have told them my approaches and Interacted with them a lot by sharing my thoughts.
● C++: Given a practical situation describing music playlist and told me to sort the most visited songs ( 3 songs continuously like ). We need to have a good understanding of the STL library(Vectors, Maps). They tested my C++ skills and they also want to know the strength of my data structure understanding capability and interacted for nearly 40 minutes just for sharing thoughts.

Puzzles:
● Questions were asked on bits related to things like (OR, XOR operations). (Easy)

HR / Behavioural/ Managerial questions:
● What are your strengths?
● What do you expect from the company?

:
● Don’t be panic even if you don’t know the answer, just be frank and ask them for help and show your interest in solving the problems and tell what you get, and don’t remain calm in the
interview if you were struck.
● Practice questions from Leetcode, Codeforces, InterviewBit.
● If you want to be good at competitive coding, focus mainly on Codeforces.
