The geo-heritage sites refer to the sites of geological features which are inherently or culturally significant offering insight into the earth's evolutionary history or that can be utilized for research, reference, and awareness. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) of the Government of India is the parent body that is making efforts towards the identification and protection of geo-heritage sites/ national geological monuments in the country.
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has recognized 90 geo-heritage sites in the country. Out of which "13" sites are available in Rajasthan.
These geo-heritage sites have their uniqueness and their own geological significance. The Ministry of Mines recently proposed a bill on geo-heritage sites of India for their conservation and protection.
