IIHT Jodhpur celebrated the 12th National Handloom Day with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to preserving and promoting India's rich handloom heritage. The celebration was graced by Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Bhardwaj, Director, ICMR Jodhpur; Guest of Honour, Mr. Sandeep Singh, ACP, Central Jodhpur Police; and Special Invitees, Dr. Ramesh Sangwan, Scientist, ICMR; Mr. Rajesh Kalla, Textile Professional; National Award-winning Weavers Mr. Madhuram Ji and Mr. Raviveer Chaudhary AD. Handicraft Service Centre Jodhpur.
The dignitaries appreciated the creativity and craftsmanship displayed by the students and weavers, inspiring them to pursue innovation, entrepreneurship, and research in the handloom sector.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Sivagnanam K J, Director, IIHT Jodhpur, who highlighted the importance of handlooms as a symbol of India's cultural heritage, and encouraged students to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.
The celebrations included a Handloom Exhibition, Technical Demonstrations, Symposium, and Poster, Essay, Quiz, and Speech Competitions. National Award-winning Weaver Mr. Madhuram Ji was specially honoured for his outstanding contribution to the handloom sector.
The grand success of the celebration was made possible through the meticulous planning and coordination of Mr. Vikram Singh, Senior Lecturer (Textiles), and Mr. Maneesh Mathur, Senior Lecturer (TP), whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of celebrations. The programme witnessed active participation of faculty members, staff, and students of IIHT Jodhpur, making the celebration a memorable and meaningful occasion.
